How would you rate Microsoft's E3 conference out of ten?

in Gaming Discussion on 09 June 2019

Lots of good stuff shown but still lacking in the way of new AAA exclusive single player IP. To be honest the few games that fit my tastes (Ori, Battle Toads, some indis) I can get on PC and skip their box. Also felt their next gen release was a bit underwhelming. They mostly parroted what Sony already said regarding next gen features which is a miss in that they didn't really say much to...

    Metroidvania: A Love Story

in Gaming Discussion on 06 June 2019

To the poster above- Heresy I say! The original Metroid is a master piece! Sure in some ways it's dated but the design/exploration and atmosphere/music still hold up. ...

    Metroidvania: A Love Story

in Gaming Discussion on 05 June 2019

Blaster Master is one of the original metroidvanias that deserves more credit. It's an amazing game and every bit equal to the original Metroid. Great controls, unique levels, creative tank power ups, kick ass music, it's one of the best in the genre. Anyone interested in the genre should give it a play! ...

PS Now vs Xbox Gamepass in revenue. What to believe?

in Gaming Discussion on 27 April 2019

If PS Now has 700,000 streaming/rental users when compared to PS+s 36 million it's clear which service is the money maker. Of course these are very different services but IMO Sony would be smart to leverage NOW as a way to enhance Plus and increase Plus subscriptions (maybe plus premium). They have the buy in with Plus to the tune of 36 million and using NOW to add value might increase Plus...

Putting Sony’s 4.2 million PSVR sales in context

in Sales Discussion on 05 April 2019

The value for Sony in the VR space is not in it's install base/volume but in it's exclusivity. Neither Microsoft or Nintendo have shown any real interest or presence in this space leaving Sony VR exclusively; which is a big deal! VR provides Sony with a similar brand effect as having the X1X be the most powerful or Switch being the only hybrid/portable. It doesn't matter how much volume or use...

You have it Backwards, Playstation NOW leads above Xbox GamePass

in Gaming Discussion on 24 February 2019

IMO offering streaming services will be a nice addition/option for some gamers next gen but that's about all. I just don't think we are ready for a full streaming future and for Microsoft to bet the farm on it seems like a bad move. Sony's more legacy approach seems more inline with what the market can support for the foreseeable future. Being late to the game is bad but so is being to too early....

Metro Exodus Becomes a Timed Exclusive to Epic Store

in PC Discussion on 29 January 2019

No way we will ever know but I'd wager they sell way less than half the number of copies on Epic's Game store than they would have on Steam. But let's be generous and say they sell 50% of what they would have on Steam. So they are opting for 88% of 50% (Epic)= 44% vs. Steam at 70% of 100%= 70%. Best of luck with that strategy....

Which of the MS-purchased studios do you think will be shut down?

in Microsoft Discussion on 27 November 2018

Changes in corporate direction (biggest threat) or poor performance (which would be measured by low user engagement on the service) could put any of these studios at risk. Then again these studios obviously measured these risks against the risks of staying independent and decided to be bought so. If Microsoft sees these studios as contributing to the whole platform/ecosystems vs. on their own...

Do You Own a VR Device?

in Gaming Discussion on 15 October 2018

I own both a Vive and PSVR, love them both. Vive is amazing for the overall quality/fidelity of experience, flexible steam platform, and all the great PC only type experiences like Dolphin VR were you can play Wind Waker or Metroid Prime in VR (AMAZING!). But if you're looking for a cheaper point of entry PSVR really punches above it's weight when you compare it to the Vive and the...

    X-box One Elite at E3?

in Gaming Discussion on 04 March 2016

Say we see an X-box One E (elite) announced at e3 for $399-499. Offers 50% faster chips, more/better ram, etc with end output being games at  consistant 60 frames and 1080p with higher quality assets (superior to PS4 by +/-50% in overall power/performance).  Would you buy one ? Opinions on potential market impact? Also  it's 100% Oculous and Vive compatible....

PS4: Dreams Galore [UPDATE: First Game Made With Dreams]

in Sony Discussion on 22 January 2016

So far it looks like a brilliant game world creation tool but I just really hope they offer as robust a set of game play tools. As cool as they look I don't want to just make levels and I don't want to control the imp every time I want to interact with the world. I want to interact with the world with the characters I create! To do that we need the characters and NPC's/enemies we populate these...

This Gaming Generation is Horrible, the Industry is a Mess

in Gaming Discussion on 21 January 2016

You know I actually think it's been an amazing start for this generation! For all the things the op listed that are bad I can think of an equal number of things that are great. Some examples- -the rise of steam and the return of a healthy PC gaming market -A very healthy home console market; vs the doom and gloom so many were predicting -More quality games being released than I can even...

in General Discussion on 20 January 2016

    1. you have to choose your life as it is right now. nothing will get any better, nothing will get any worse. you will maintain the current level of quality in your life for the remainder of your life. or you can choose to become president of the united states of america, but you will be assassinated one year before your term ends. which do you choose? Wouldn't want to be the president...

How VR can become the next big thing

in General Discussion on 09 January 2016

I agree with Sports, Porn, and Price but also think you need to add- Virtual tourism (imagine being able to experience different places- literally anywhere, and this could be fixed experiences of a place like standing in time square or a more interactive one like virtual trip like on a boat), Or imagine live feed versions so a camera and tripod later and grandpa can 'come' along for the trip...

Men of "Arab or North African Appearance" commit mass sexual assault/muggings in Germany on NYE

in General Discussion on 07 January 2016

Scisca said: The fact that the German national TV prepared a material on this topic but decided not to air it and instead to cover the story up is mindblowing. It goes to show just how brainwashed the West is. You are willingly lying about what's happening and doing nothing to stop your own women from getting raped in the name of "tolerance". Fuck such tolerance. I am even more disgusted,...

Do you have an all time favorite game?

in Gaming Discussion on 27 December 2015

Soo many good games very hard to chose. For me I'd say three way tie between Shadow of the Colossus, Super Metroid, and Metroid Prime. Close behind would be Portal 2, Blaster Master, Jet Force Gemini, MDK 2, and Soul Reaver. All of these (with the exception of MDK2), are heavy on exploration, puzzle solving, and provide unique moody sifi environments with a sense of isolation....

What games have surprised you the most this gen?

in Gaming Discussion on 21 November 2015

For me personally I would say Bloodborne. After trying Dark Souls 2 and giving up due to difficulty, I thought Bloodborne would be too hard for my tastes. But I just love the world and style of the game so much! It really got it's hooks in me and I ended up beating it including all optional areas; played over 60 hours which is a really long time for me....
