I was reading about that after making the post, he figured both the codes and the dock. In some comments one person said he scanned the toys at the shop with his mobile phone and was able to replicate them afterwards (for some reason the toys have the bottom chip part uncovered due to possible demo uses).

On the level of the protocol itself you probably could, but that doesn't mean you could replicate the data for a specific item. Just like you can't easily guess a credit card number....

Obtaining the data would only require someone to scan them and share the code online. Obviously these methods can be seen as illegal.
