Is there a way to permanently turn off the sounds for these ads. I understand the need for advertising, but these ads with sound are extremely annoying.

Firefox + Adblock + Adblock Filterset.G Updater = no ads (I really mean no ads). Try.
i think ads are fine as long as they are within the website itself and not as a pop-up. and without sound. these pop-ups sometimes just keep coming back over and over and bothers me when i try to read material. those that cover up what your reading and floats along as you scroll, those are annoying too. but overall, as long as the ads make no sound, are on the side, top, bottom whatever and not over the material im trying ot read, i don't mind them.

Ok, thanks. I'm glad the noisy ads will be gone. Like I said, I don't mind the ads but that damn mosquito was driving me insane!
Sorry. This is NOT about ads. I wasn't sure where to post this and didn't want to start another thread blocking up the system. 1) Is there anyway you can put up a link that says "View posts since last visit" that enables me to see what has been posted since I was last signed in? It just would make it easier to see what's new... for everyone who is not up to date. 2) The envelopes are all the same colour even if I have read the topic or not, could you not at least show a 'open' envelope for a thread that has just been read? Maybe I'm just a moaning git...I don't know...
Good to see this site is still going
I use Adblock because some of the sites I visit have incredibly intrusive ads. NintendoWorldReport is probably the worst offender, every 15th word on a page pops up an advertisement if you hover over it with the mouse. Also, on this site, running Adblock prevents middle-click from opening links in both a new tab AND in the current tab. I haven't quite figured out why, but it must have something to do with Adblock checking the "target" field of the link. I like to surf by middle-clicking all the links I want to see at once, and I can't do that if my current view is interrupted by loading the link. Sorry if this cuts into your ad revenue, but it makes it way easier for me to use this website. Isn't most revenue click-through anyway?
