Forums - Sales Discussion - Detroit: Become Human has sold through over 2 million copies worldwide (also fastest selling QD game)

That's nice to hear. I'm genuinely looking forward to playing this game. I have all of QD's PS exclusives, including Heavy Rain on both PS3 and PS4, but have yet to play anything beyond the Heavy Rain demo, which I rather enjoyed. My main hangup is that I'm not into sad stories, and I've only gotten softer as I've aged. There were two kills I executed in Hitman 2 that kinda bothered me. Haaa.

I sometimes hear that from people, understand :) But never forget: you might miss one of the most interesting story games in your life, a very special experience. So..i hope the best for you, lets try it in future : D

Holy shit looks like this doesn't include November and December sales.

Are you sure about that ? After 5 months ?

Bought it on Black Friday, waiting in the queue to play after I finish Ni No Kuni II and Spyro.

Great taste, have fun! = )

Game of the gen for me.

Congratulation, people always said great thing about it. It will probably break 5 million with time like Heavy Rain.

Excellent! Hope they are pleased. I love Quantic Dreams games, because they are all about story. Nothing else keeps me engaged in the characters and story like their games.

Also, I have to give props to the Connor and Hank relationship. For me, it was right up with Joel and Ellie, and Kratos and Atreus.

Now I hope their next game is on PSVR2. Living a David Cage story. Wow! That would be freaking incredible!

Interesting comment and great feelings :)

Good news! This proves that, despite questionable criticisms here and there, there is an audience for interactive dramas in this market.

That game has high production values and for me, particulary, it was a great experience.
The actors did an amazing job and I was hooked by their interpretation of the characters, the atmosphere, the superb soundtrack and the huge number of choices and endings

I´m not so sure, though, that after such a long period of development, 2 million copies sold would be enough to give QD / Sony a profit. Hopefully, it may become like previous QD titles and keep an steady pace of sales, reaching around 3+ million copies sold lifetime.

So true. And good sales figures are important for the Singleplayer Games Market :)

Yep, David Cage have show that there is a solid market (2-5M) for this type of experience as long as it is well made and well sparsed.

I personally think this is a well made game. Of course, the formula still can be improved. Two of my favorite parts were the Eden Club and the Evidence Room puzzles. I think with more puzzles scattered around,  and the substituion of a few QTE´s scenes for action/combat scenes,  this game would be perfect.

Well, that is what some people say because of the games he makes.

I agree, and probably he would make very good games on VR.

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

One more thing I would to add:

The guy who plays the detective played his role so well. He should've won best performance instead of the Red Dead 2 protagonist.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

I want to play it, but it also gets a lot of hate .. they call it point and click game or whatever

God bless You.

My Total Sales prediction for PS4 by the end of 2021: 110m+

When PS4 will hit 100m consoles sold: Before Christmas 2019

Detroit was an extremely ambitious game that's deserving of far more sales than it's gotten, but I'm glad it's doing well. Personally, Heavy Rain was my favorite of the QD games, mainly due to the setting. I wasn't into the whole Robot/AI thing, as I found it hard to accept the fact that robots have feelings, despite the game clearly trying to make me feel sorry for them. But yeah, they are robots! They are machines! Why should I feel sorry for them, or feel as though they should be members of society like everyone else. They are running computer programs with no heart; just the imitation of feelings.

I understand how they can have emulated emotions, but really my empathy didn't kick in for them. The father in Heavy Rain though....

Point and click are great games

In  a certain way.... this kind of game is reminiscent of the point-and-click genre that was hugely popular in the 90´s on PC Gaming. It has a similar feel in terms of gameplay (given it´s 3D instead of 2D) but it is not as puzzle-heavy as those games were back in the day. Instead, it´s more focused on decision-making, story and (sometimes) branching paths.

What makes me wonder why some so-called "seasoned gamers" or "hardcore gamers", when reviewing interactive dramas, have such hard time digging the concept and are always falling on the same "it´s not a game" falacy. I mean, people who actually experienced those kind of games back in the day, they were expected to be more open-minded when reviewing it, even if it´s not their favorite genre.

That said, I do understand that this genre may not please certain audiences. It has a demo, I´d recommend give it a try.
