Even if there is truth to that, we do have a population that fights among itself for various different reasons.

Politicians certainly pour fuel on that fire, but they don't single handedly create the sentiment among citizens as much as they exploit it. In my eyes, democrats have become a wildly different party in recent years because they simply pander to certain demographics, while republicans are finding success simply leaning into the economy which does speak to the working class. Touching on the topic, flooding the country with countless illegals arguably is not a good way to help the working class.

There is always going to be fighting amongst citizens who want left or right leaning governments. Especially when you have the media and colleges pushing an agenda for virtually one side. Any who, this fighting among the population isn't unique to the US and its not just because of politicians.

As far as I know a lot of things in the US are antithetical to what happens in other developed countries. Democracy for example.

I'll say this and its on topic, I respect Angela Merkel. She must realize her stance on immigration was terrible and hurt your country.

As far as I know political parties in the US changed a lot over the course of history. Republicans weren't always far right. In fact they'd probably referred to as liberal leftist by some members of the party today.

Most right wing capitalists are very pro illegal immigration. Why do you think it's an issue that's never actually been fully dealt with? The more illegal immigrants there are the more cheap labour they can get and therefore the higher their profits are.

The fact of the matter is most of these folkes are actually quite conservative, they are quite religious usually, anti-abortion, and pro-business/pro-entrepreneurship. They're probably more conservative than the average American. If Republicans would stop demonizing them every 10 seconds they might actually get some of those votes.

In the long run they will have to, the "Trump crowd" is mostly old, bitter people who will be dead in 10-15 years. They can't rely on that base forever, the younger demographics of the US are much more diverse and they will have to eventually accept that the politics of scapegoating groups like Latinos won't work.

A lot of it is bunk too, in the 17 years since 9/11, how many terrorists have come from the Southern border? Zero. If you wanted to be a gang-banger criminal, which is a better place, Mexico, where you can do as you please, or the US where a person of color can get their ass thrown in jail just for looking sideways at a cop and has a for-profit prison industry based on throwing tons of people into jail?

Trump has also flip-flopped on a lot of bull shit, he was pro-choice and even backed Bill Clinton's assault weapons ban in the 90s and 2000s ... good luck getting him to admit to that today. Also I'm sure he had his clothing line made in China just by accident too.

The way I see it we can either A. deal with a never ending swarm of immigrants and asylum seekers that are trying to escape political corruption and violence or B. we can end the war on drugs that causes said corruption and violence. We burned down someone else's house and then we complain about them asking us for a place to stay. Either way this whole immigration debate is just a dog whistle for closet racists. The Democrats have literally never campaigned for open borders or illegal immigration but trump telling the same lie over and over again is enough to get a lot of republican running to the polls

Fun fact: Every single other mainstream party would've done the exact same. Germany is a socially minded country and right wing extremists do not make up 50% of the country.

Maybe they're over compensating from the 1930s-40s? Now that was extreme!

Merkel stepped down because people are leaning to the right. Just don't go too far, I don't wanna see any goose stepping.

Pretty much spot on. Legal immigration? Absolutely. But illegal immigration is out of control. It’s all political, and it’s disgusting. Democrats claim they’re philanthropists, but it’s all about votes. And Republicans are guilty of the same crap. When is someone going to genuinely care about what needs to be done for our country rather than power and money?
