Forums - Sales Discussion - June 2017 NPD Thread! PS4 #1 (Leaks are in!)

Crash is definitely the reason for the increase in PS4 sales. July will be interesting as the Crash was only on the market for 2 days. If PS4 sales are up again for July, then I think we can safely say that Crash is pushing the system.

Crash was massive, but wasnt there a massive price cut for a week as well, or was that July... getting confused now :|

They had a $299 Limited Edition Gold PS4 which was $249 for 9 days the moment it came out. It sold amazingly well based on Amazon, it came in at #30 on the monthly rankings for June. The only console SKUs which sold better in June were the Uncharted PS4 bundle and Neon Ninteno Switch according to Amazon.

Yeah, I'm sure Crash helped a bit, but that gold PS4 was a damned smart promotion and sold out quickly in my area. It's most likely the primary reason PS4 had such impressive sales.

So PS4 are really up YOY, good for the 4 year on the market.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Ah ok yeah that makes sense.

I realised now I was remembering the UK market, where they dropped the price to £199. Bah my brain sometimes.
