I think that was his point...

from the discussion here you'd think the ps4 had no offers at all and the ONE was given away with fries.

Yes, but the difference is MS said this was a promotional sale of the XB1 so people of course jumped on it thinking this would be their only chance to buy it at the low price. Then MS lowered it again after a couple of weeks and talk about a promotional sale again to try to do the same. Sony never officially dropped the price and gave value by adding games. There's a difference between creating 'panic buying' and 'offering value'.

Yes $50 off a $400 product does create panic buying.  Hows Kelly?

Isn't it actually $50 off plus two free games? Not to mention on BF, it was $70 off plus two free games plus $50 of free game credit.

Well, that was the intention and it clearly worked. People went all out and bought it because they wanted to buy it cheaper. They knew (or were told) that it would go back up. Now MS are trying to do it again to compensate for their lack of games in the first 3 months.

The PS5 Exists.

Also, Microsoft said that this was a temporary pricedrop without a defined time span:

"It's a temporary reduction and we're not announcing an end date at this point," Nichols said. "We want to see how people react to it."

So you better get it at that price while you still can...

What amazes me about the comments in this thread (and many others as well). The common talk is that in November and December the X1 was at most $349.99 with 2 games free (both games deemed as $60 games as well), and most of the time the X1 was really even lower then that at all retailers. While at the same time the PS4 was always $399.99 with 0 games and never offered with any additional items or on sale at a lower price at any retailer.

Well that is just bull isn't it. Walmart had the PS4 at $329 for a few days for example.

I think that was his point...

My bad, didn't read the paragraph correctly. Just sick and tired of people saying the PS4 didn't have any deals.

Facts are obviously being ignored on this site.

How does that compare to 2013 sales, do you know? Probably down, right?

Don't have 2013 data :(

But yes, it pretty much is down.

To be fair, that was said before we knew anything about the consoles.  Nobody could have predicted the polarity of the two reveals.

I still edge toward the ONE winning in the US eventually.  I just think MS will make it happen whatever it takes.

How, how do you see that happening when PS4 at 399 and with best games being a PS3 port and Infamous Took 2014 form a X1 which got a ton of deals free games big exclusives price cuts.  How does it ever take NA based on what it took for it to stay alive and relvent agianst comp that wasent ever trying at all ?

Well given the horrendous amoutn of bad press that was thrown at the ONE for the year after its reveal... I'm amazed it is so close.

Make no mistake, the lifetime sales are very, very close.

Nov and Dec proves there is significant demand out there for the xbox.

They fix al their problems i don't see why people would hate xbone for this forever

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

I wonder if any authorities will be contact Microsoft about enciting riots.

Has anyone noticed that the VITA is criminally undertracked in the US?
