You went overboard. In Europe PS3/X360 go on pretty similar pace. PS3 is a bit stronger though. In US X360 leads firmly. True. The key player is Japan. Slow (as for now) but with huge potential. If Sony achieve even moderate success there during holidays it can sacure ww victory for them.

I think figures this holidays will be closer than anyone expects.

US- Xbox 360 wins no doubt.
EU- Slight advantage for PS3
Japan- Now this is the key player this holiday season.

But honestly, I don't care much about Japan. Why? well they have games of their own that are not interesting for me and are not released in the other two regions. I guess there's a big difference between Japanese and NA players. If PS3 wins Japan and Xbox 360 wins the NA market, RPGs will flood PS3 and FPS/multiplayer games will flood Xbox 360. Which will be good for me since I'm more of a multiplayer person and I've got a 360. ;)

Why can't Microsoft and Sony just sign a truce and Xbox 360 gets most of the FPS exclusives and PS3 gets RPG exclusives?

With as much software Microsoft is selling on the 360, it may not matter if Ps3 sales a few more this Christmass.

A mate of mine said the Japanese don't celebrate christmas, they do but not massively, so that could affect the upcomming sales.

Luckily not, first of all I love FPS games and don't ever want to own a XBox 360 again. Secondly FPS games like Killzone 2 and Resistance 2 will use the SPEs to result into games simply not possible to do in similar quality on XBox 360 hardware.

BTW according to Infinity Ward studio Call of Duty 4 on the PS3 offers bigger online capacity (24 max players vs 360's 18) and improved visuals. If they made the game 720p (600p a 360 related sacrifice) and the single player campaign twice as long I would have considered buying the game.

I think it does, the PS3 will win Japan with near absolute certainty and the console currently performs better than the XBox 360 for the rest of the world (others) and for the US research indicated the PS3 to be higher on people's Christmas wishlists than the XBox 360 (the Wii was preferred amongst women, the PS3 amongst men).

Interestingly no Wii or DS... I really thought it would be far more desirable amongst this age group this christmas!
