Okay. I just completed my first playthrough. 34 hours, and I am already excited for ME3.
Given the entirety of ME2, what would you fix/tweak/change in ME2 for ME3? Inventory, Mako and Combat were the big complaints between ME1-ME2, which seems like were fixed, and possibly overfixed in some regards.
So what would you change from ME2 to ME3? This is a question for those that beat ME2, so please do not visit the thread, as it'll have open spoilers.
My thoughts:
- Add more stats to weapons and more weapons. I really liked the weapons in ME2. However, you get info about damage for techs/biotics, but not weapons. That needs to change. I understand why they did what they did in ME2 for weapons/inventory, but it'd be nice to have a few more selections.
- Bigger payouts for side quests. I don't remember getting a single weapon for a side quest. Yes, they had upgrades, but no weapons. I'd like side-quests to have bigger payouts, since that seemed to be the only missing element from ME2.
- More advanced abilities with resources. Having resources was a fantastic idea, and I think their usage was implemented somewhat well. Maybe not perfect, but well. It'd be nice to be able to purchase/sell resources for credits and vice versa. I like how credits aren't easy to get (as I always had 10 million creds by the end of ME1 on almost every playthrough), however, there is no non-linear way to earn them. Also, building new weapons with resources would be cool - really loved how they were used for upgrades.
- Tweak the scanner minigame. I really liked where they went with it. However, it would be nicer to get something a little bit....Quicker...Than what was in the game. Maybe a heatmap on the planet?
- Better planet models. This is something that got to me by the end. Every planet has the same pockmarked look to it, or generic 'gas giant in different colors' feel to it. ME1 had better models, I think, in terms of variety.
- Remove ammo count. Also something that got to me. I don't mind limited ammo, that's not the reason. What I care about is that they did away with Mass Effect lore for the ammo count, which is retarded. Weapons in Mass Effect are due to reaper technology - shaving off small slugs and accelerating them causing overheating and recoil. Therefore, all weapons, even with the new thermal clips, should have infinite ammo. If they change this, I think they need a hybrid system - using clips to cool the weapon faster, but allowing for infinite ammo still.
- Show me the friggin' Quarians. I slept with Tali for this, and didn't get it. I am sure that they may have saved it for ME3, but if they do not...God help us all. Also, on a side note (and I need to check ME1 lore) - but on the Floatilla - weren't they outside their suits due to the sterile nature of the Floatila? Felt like it was also a cop-out to not have Quarians in regular dress on the Floatila.
- More armor. More armor. I loved the armor, I just want more types. I thought the modular characteristics were fantastic and was a great design. However, as far as I can tell, I obtained almost every piece for the regular game and have about 3 types per piece (head, chest, legs, shoulders, arms). The designs were fantastic, I just wish there were more. Death Mask FTW!
- I want BSG-type battles in ME3. Obviously a huge spoiler. ME3 involves a direct invasion of the Reapers, it would seem. It would be nice to see them use BSG-type battles between the reapers and the citadel species. Hopefully it comes true.
- Romance Options. I read that there were certain bonuses if you stayed faithful in ME1 to ME3. Since none of the love interests carry over from ME1 to ME2, you either had to stay celibate or cheat. In my case, I am a widower. I slept with Ashley who died in ME1. Obviously, I would have chosen Tali in ME1, but I would like to think that there should be a unique situation in ME3 with a character such as mine - probably one of the more strange situations. One would assume that there may be a similar situation with a female shepard and Kaiden dying on Virmire.
- Please, no Terminator for the last boss of ME3. That was just retarded.
What about you? What would you change? I'll admit, my requests are mostly minor. ME2 was fantastic, and theres not much to complain about
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
