Forums - General Discussion - 2009 OSCAR Nominations are IN -- Avatar is there for "Best Film"!

Here were my Avatar predictions that I made in november:

http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/post.php?post=2829036&page=2&postnum=46

Best Art Direction

Best Original Score

Best Original Song (I was really not sure about that one)

Best Sound Editing

Best Sound Mixing

Best Visual Effects

Best Director

I was not expecting to see 10 nominations for Best Picture.

Editing? Cinematography? I was not aware of these categorises.

As long as James Horner wins for best music I'm happy he should have won for Braveheart and didn't even get nominated for Glory.

Wow, Up got nominated for Best Picture. First animated movie to do so since Beauty and the Beast IIRC.

I hope Pixar's Up wins best movie and all of the awards in which it got nominations. It's the best movie I've seen in a long time... it actually made me shed a tear.

Up was very good, but I was expecting a little more from Pixar.

OT: Avatar. In almost every category.

Only one tear? Man... the starting montage was one of the most powerful scenes I've seen in a movie. Period. What a way to start a movie...

Transformers 2 should have been nominated for best visual effects, even though Avatar will win it anyway, but still.

Here's to rooting for the underdog, District 9. Awesome movie, and I'm so happy it got nominated. Also hope James Cameron wins best director as he definitely deserves it. But if none of those happen, give them to Tarantino haha.

Oh that would be a nice Oscars, but it probably won't work out that way.

I have this horrible feeling that Precious will win.. I sure hope not..

better than Avatar winning

Of the best picture nods I've seen Avatar, Up, Inglourious Basterds, District 9, Te Hurt Locker. As much as I enjoyed Avatar, Enjoyed District 9 more and absolutely loved up, I'd have to make my best pic nom Inglourious Basterds, though the Hurt Locker is right behind it.

I'd also give the best actor to Jeremy Renner and the best supporting actor to Waltz, though by having the standout role of the film, I'd just assumed he'd be in the best actor category.

I have a feeling the judges will honour Avatar in it's technical aspects and maybe give Cameron the Director, but I'm hoping it doesn't get best picture.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.
