Forums - General Discussion - 2009 OSCAR Nominations are IN -- Avatar is there for "Best Film"!

I suppose so. I mean, up next we have a remake of Death at a Funeral... which is a whole lot of nothing (I'll be happy if it's only half as hilarious as the original).

And like you said, the upcoming Trek sequel will hopefully continue to put her in the limelight, not to mention the upcoming Avatar sequels.

GO AVATAR!

I hope it wins!

Yeah, Cameron was mentioning something like that, but then he said in a later interview that "We'll follow Jake and Neytiri," he said. "I have a trilogy-scaled arc of story right now, but I haven't really put any serious work into writing a script." I wonder what this means...

I mean, we've only seen a small part of the world of Pandora... not to mention the continuing struggle with humans and Na'vi. We'll see what happens, but all I know is that Avatar provides quite the jumping off point for a sequel. I really hope to see Cameron expand on this already wonderful world. ^_^

As for your second sentence: Uber-Banshees.

10 nominees for best pictures now?

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

YEah he probably changed plan once eh saw how popular Jake & neyitri (especially neyitri) became.

I hope its much deeper & he develops the universe in a defining way.

The Star Wars Universe is so amazing, full of different things....hopefully he can make avatar have a universe & mythos like that.

I'm gonna predict the top categories here:

Best pic: Either the hurt locker or avatar. It'll be Hurt Locker because avatar is still too sci-fi'ish and not "mature" enough for the jury.

Best actor: Here's hoping, wishing and thinking Jeff Bridges for Crazy Heart.

Best actress: Gabourey Sidibe - because the organization loves a tearjerker.

Best Director: Either Tarantino or Cameron. I'm thinking Cameron for being Hollywoods golden boy here.

Best supporting actor: Christoph Waltz. If it isn't him, I'll come over next year to light the set on fire because that would mean that the organization merely likes to fuck with it's audience by chosing someone who isn't good but at least surprising.

Best supporting actress: It'll surely not be Up in the Air merely for being nominated twice. Here's to Mo'nique, also for having a ridiculous name.

And here's an easy one: Best animated - Up!

The Doctor will see you now  Promoting Lesbianism -->

Anna Kendrick from UP In The Air is also in Twilight movies. I guess people in Twilight can act after all. It's just the script!

Go Avatar!!!!

Star Trek was rather forgotten. It was awesome.
