Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition nicht in Japan

02.02.10 - Capcom wird die Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition für Xbox 360 nicht mehr in Japan ausliefern; das Spiel soll dort nur noch für die PS3 erscheinen. Das geht aus Capcoms Geschäftsbericht hervor.

Der Grund ist, dass Capcom mit zu niedrigen Verkaufszahlen rechnet. Die PS3-Version soll hingegen am 18.02.10 in Japan auf Blu-ray Disc in den Handel kommen. In Europa und den USA sollen sowohl Xbox 360- als auch PS3-Version ausgeliefert werden.

350.000 verkaufte Einheiten erhofft sich Capcom von dem Spiel weltweit.

I see this as a sign that 360 is dead in Japan.I cant see other reasons why they wont release it there. They dont have a contract with Sony why they wont release it in Japan ? And why are the expectations so low 350k is really low expectations.

Development costs arent that high for HD Consoles ?

The Expectations for Dark Void is also low just 600k worldwide. I think most HD games are profitable even if they dont reach 1 Million. Half a Million seems to be enough. Or even less than that.  That also explains why the developers are satsified with the sales on HD Consoles. And this is for BOTH consoles. They break even with 300k each. The development costs decrease the longer the gen goes.

Are they going to release the DLC there? I can see why they wouldn't release a Gold Edition, and instead just release the DLC.

If that's true then the leader boards for RE 5 Gold edition on 360 will not be dominated by Japanese people like they where for the regular version of RE 5 on the 360 because I doubt a lot of Japanese people are going to import the game.

No 360 owners definetly wont buy a PS3 just because of that but for future maybe owners it is a reason more to buy a PS3 instead of a 360.

this is japan, people won't buy the 360 version at all.

I'm pretty sure the majority of Japanese 360 owners already own a PS3.

Yeah I guess so its still amazing though how the 360 leaderboards where dominted by Japanese players at the top.  I guess their RE fans are a lot more hard core then the rest of the world.

Yes I can confirm that I have someone on my friendslist who runs two-three times a week through the game, for the last 4 months atleast.

Also the majority of great paint jobs for Forza 2 and 3 orginate in Japan also in my opinion and both of those games sold even less then the 360 version of RE5.
