I wonder how they're gonna sell those MH3 copies without a budget release.

At this point, I don;t think MH3 will get a budget rerelease.  I think we'll just see MH3G this summer with the added western content instead, and then that will get a BEST version in 2011 (probably alongside the PSP port).

I can see this happening if Nintendo want MH3G for sustained sales but I think they need a Best version too. It's an easy like 400-500k more sales with no effort.

I wonder if 3G will have free online in Japan.

I dunno, installments that get a "G" release tend not to get BEST reprints (MH1 PS2, MH2 PSP).  I think it'll be the same for MH3, it'll get a "G" instead (for full price).

I also wouldn't count on them dropping fees in Japan, since last quarter they said subscriptions were above expectations.  Then again, maybe it'd be in their best interests to drop fees and tie the game to systems instead, heading off the used market?  They'd lose subscriptions, but sell more units that way.

Reading through the IR report now... other choice comments...

  • Monster Hunter credited with better than expected results, MH3 = "healthy growth", 2G Best = "grew favorably"

I hope people who say MH3 underperformed can shut up now. It was their biggest game in these results, and what do you know...they profited.

You're late man. Someone else already claimed MH3 to be a failure. The first claim is what matters.

Wow, MH3 was under tracked by a decent amount.. Or is it just that Capcom counts the Wii bundles while vgchartz does not?

Those are Capcom's shipped numbers. VGC only counts actual sold copies.

It might still be undertracked, but I don't think so.

Looking at these numbers and their financial report, I would be quite surprised if Capcom didn't start giving Wii some more bigger games, and took a little bit of focus away from HD multiplats.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Yeah, it's not undertracked.  They overshipped the standalone SKU, new shipments have probably been only CCPro bundles.
