I'm thinking like Final Fantasy XI with the Beastmaster job right there; give commands with your Pokemon and fight along side them. Imagine a 'dragoon-like' trainer with a Charizard, fighting with a polearm to attack while the Charizard can help the trainer fighting by heating your lance to pierce through the opponent's hard defenses. It would be neat or a far stretch of imagination; that's what I'm doing in the Pokemon fanfic I'm writing. It's a mix of Final Fantasy and Pokemon... I also wish that Pokemon would have ability and stat traits that relate to a Pokemon, kind of like that way the monsters in Tales of Symphonia 2: Dawn of the New World had. Like after awhile, a Pokemon could build up an immunity to a status ailment or type weakness. I'd also like for a Pokemon to have more than 4 attacks to use, but that's originally a part of the strategy that Pokemon was about... OH, and Pokemon could have some sort of system wtih drop items. The items that some Pokemon may drop (like if you fight a Bellsprout, it may drop of vine, and the Trainer could synthesize it into an Escape Rope) could be synthesized into various items and trainers can also see if they can synthesize TMs and whatnot from various materials. |

Wasn't the battle system radically overhauled with series 4? Certain types of attack were changed from physical to special? Also, can't remember which gen but pokemon holding items was quite a fresh addition. I personally think there shouldn't be any new pokemon but it should be the 1st pokemon title where you can ultimately catch all 493 pokemon through gameplay.

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!
Something... actually... innovative? Don't get me wrong, I love Pokemon, and would probably still be playing if they did something innovative. I've always wanted a 3D Pokemon on console... not the Coloseums, but a whole Pokeworld on a console, with Online capabilities and huuuuuuuge maps to explore as teams! And fight random people online as you do so would be epic! I would buy the next Ninty console for sure if that happened.... But Ninty just won't do it.. Something I wish the Pokemon franchise was not in their hands.

Yes, I hate the events, especially ones exclusive to Japan or very far from me, making it very difficult to attain all the pokemon. I wanna catch 'em all damnit! I'm in college now, so it's much more difficult than it used to be time wise. I'm gonna really try with the next one.
Much more excited for HeartGold right now tbh.
Oh I forgot, in ruby and sapphire Contests were made (and redone in diamond/pearl)
I want multiplayer innovation. I think the social parts of the games that made the series great in the first place should be expanded upon.
