I know. But that kind of reception was unexpected from most reviewers. And no. Linearity was never a problem. I don't really care if any game is linear or not. All I care about is the overall experience. Hopefully, FFXIII will do a good job at that. |
I'll tell what I think has happened.
WRPG's have made these critics want huge open worlds
FF12 gave them a taste of that....critics gave it high ratings
FF10 is now 9 years old, going back to the FF10 formula is being seen a step back & many critics have clearly mentioned this......FF13 doesn't have things that FF12 had...big towns, shops, loads of side quests, un linear environments....as FF13 is the nex gen game critics probably feel thats "unexcusable"
its quite an intriguing problem actually....if FF13 had come out in 2006 this problem wouldn't have occured as FF10 would only b 5 years old
Now its too late, that ame is 9 years old.
I urge you to read the reviews, for me nothing from it is disappointing, 99% of the reviewers are saying it has an amazing story, great characters, great graphics, amazing music.......then many say the gameplay is goof......but where it goes wrong is that its linear, doesn't have enough side quests bla bla bla.....those things are probably seen as unexcusable since FF12 had them.
But for me this will be the MGS4 of RPG's!
