I'm just wondering what happens to the videogame consoles that are returned by customers and kept as open boxes, or the consoles that become defective? Do they contribute to adjustments by any chance? Can it be possible that due to the Christmas rush being over and the return season upon us, that the sales were adjusted?

They are resold as refurbished/opened items at a discounted price.
