Forums - Sales Discussion - Are we missing sales data for the PSP in europe?

Or all systems in general?

I find looking at the Tie ratios extremely interesting vs regions...

and the PSP is at a staggering .99 Tie ratio right now.

As in, it doesn't even sell 1 game per handheld.  Even with the people buying it for piracy functions... that seems remarkably low.

Then again, Europe generally has low attach rates for the DS too... are people buying pirate machines just way more prevelent in Europe or is their some problems with the hand held data?

The real ratio is probably low as well, but yes, Europe is missing quite a lot of sales for PSP, software wise.

"And yet, I've realized that maybe living a "decent" life means you won't ever have a "good" life."

yeah theres some big games like daxter missing. I'm not sure if it's just the psp though.

wow .99 attach rate?!?!?

Does that count movies?

Sony's shipment data does.... but not on here.

However yes, VGC is missing a lot of software data for Europe, mostly on older and lower selling titles... which is why PSP is affected so much. (it being an older system with games that rarely get in the top weekly ranks)

Japan is probably the most accurate (due to weekly trackers), then Americas, with Others being incomplete. While it's not perfect, you can compare shipments for an example:

Region
SW
HW
Attach
Am Wii
275.84m
32.02m
8.61
Oth Wii
187.24m
25.71m
7.28
JP Wii
46.57m
9.72m
4.79

While VGC (end of 09) has attach rates of:

Am Wii: 8.18
Oth Wii: 5.52 (~139m software sold)
JP Wii: 4.30

Even with complete data it wouldn't be much higher...

Europe is pirate heaven.

The best example to use is not the Wii (though it is affected too)

That's the end of 2006... according to VGC european software sales for PSP and X360 were below their hardware sales. And DS is only at 1.62 despite being out for 2 years.

Hey, the adjustments bumped up tie ratio for the PSP over 1. Hooray?

Europe is a difficult region to track. I've been trying to find a Scandinavian tracker of some kind for a couple of years but the closest I've come (that offer anything for free) simply track revenues and not units in hardware and software.
