Forums - General - So Ive joined the HD format war with an A2

Anyways, I was going to sit this out for another year but I actually got a shiny new Toshiba HD-A2 as a present from a very good friend. Hes giving me the reciept so I can send away for the 5 freebies. Its hooked up to my Vizio 1080P 42 incher for my budget HD theatre setup! (That tv was $999).

Im planning on picking up Transformers tomorrow, along with King Kong. Curiously, that "Planet Earth" collection seems to sell really well, whats the big deal with that series? But now Im pretty excited looking through sites like Amazon to see what other hd-dvds Id want to kickstart my new collection with. Im kind of sad since Im a Spiderman fan, and its a Sony picture, so I guess I'll just have to buy it for my future PS3.

Its kind of wierd, this format war seems like it can go either way. I guess if Blu-ray wins I still have a nice upscaling dvd player!

Anyone else manage to pick up one of the HD-A2's? I know Mad-skillz got one...

HDDVD FTW!...I hope

Don't have a HD set up myself but as to that Planet Earth question for anyone even the slightest bit curious about our planet that is the one movie I've seen that actually made me say that hey there might be something to this HD thing. I'm aware how the signals aren't that great generally in the store due to all the tvs they split them between but I saw Planet Earth in HD on this 52 inch Samsung tv and it essentially just makes you say wow. It was part about the oceans and it looked like you were in the water right there staring at these creatures on the sea floor.

Now Playing : Links Crossbow Training(Wii), Super Mario Galaxy(Wii) FE: Path of Radiance(GC)

King Kong? you disappoint me... =p

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

I just got Enter the Dragon last night. It was awesome! I've never seen that movie full screen before. It had a lot of great extras at well.

Bruce Lee >>> Any special effect

You can take your Spiderman 3, Transformers, etc. I'll take Enter the Dragon and Army of Darkness over your high tech wizardry, BAH!

Good thing your friend gave you the reciept. Now you can take that POS back and put that money towards a Blu-ray player, a PS3, or some great DVDs (which look nearly as good as HD-DVD). When he or she asks kindly tell him or her that HD-DVD is a cheap product with no future. The truth hurts a lot of the time, but to lie always hurts. I must give your friend some credit though, at least they are a good person.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

KBG29. You do realise that the specs on Blu-Ray and HD DVD are virtually identical with the exception of price??? Both have 7.1, 1080p, and upgradeable storage. In fact, whereas Toshiba has proven all players will be compatible with the 51gb discs, Sony is yet to offer the same proof for it's upgrades. So if you do wish to get into the technicalities as to which format has the greatest universal potential, it is undoubtedly HD DVD. Congratulations Friedtofu, on a commendable next-generation dvd player purchase.

HAHA. The truth does hurt, which is why alot of you Sony-only-guys are sounding more and more bitter all the time. Ease up man, your PS3 probably doesnt love you back. Unrequited love hurts.

Thanks Starcraft.  I love new electronic toys. This was good timing too, my girlfriends dvd player died, so now I can give her my old one!

KBG, I'm giving you a one day timeout. If you are going to add nothing to a conversation and just bash, then there is no point in posting.
