Forums - Gaming - GT Bonus Round - Discuss GOW3 Impact + Uncharted 2's "Disappointing Sales"?

What I think he meant is that Uncharted 2 had all the making of being a huge seller in North America. PS3 was coming off a huge Spetember with the launch of Slim, had a very good ad campaign, critics loved the game and it didn't face any real competition in October.

Hmm.I agree with Leoj, and I think we are talking about SALES of the game, not quality.
900k= 900 000. That is much. But when we look at the quality of the game, then compare it to other tittles that outsold it, they are dissapointing.
With little more interesting Multiplayer it could have done even better.

Take my love, take my land..

Ok, with updated NPD sales, North American Uncharted 2 sales are disappointing indeed. But taking in overall sales world-wide, it's not too bad.

Either way, I still don't respect GameTrailers.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

What updated NPD sales?

we knew about that months ago, adding canada in VGChartz is spot on actually.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

I agree with what they said, Uncharted 2 sales are disappointing, there is so many cheap bastards in my country, that buy only used games, or lend one game to all of their friends, just so they can save some money. One dude bought UC2 and borrowed it to 5-6 people. No wonder games doen't sell. I should clarify, those guys are interested in singleplayer only.

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising

They neglect to mention Halo 3 was at the top of the Live play charts last year.

I don't see anything wrong with that. I lent UC2 to two people, myself. I often lend games out to friends when I feel I have little use for it after either fully completing the game, or getting bored of it. If one copy or a single rental is enough to satisfy multiple people, then they don't deserve extra sales. Still, on some occasions, this does lead to extra purchases...

Anyway, what's the use in keeping a game that will only lose value over time as it collects dust on my shelf? If it comes to a point where I don't see myself playing a game any time soon, there's no reason not to either sell it or lend it out to someone that would have use for it. Games are expensive, after all.

Perhaps these single player cinematic games could use a different business model, I don't know. Most other games don't share this problem, because their focus is not in story but replayability, which make them harder to give up, as they retain their value much better.

But you're right. With Canada, software could be spot on.

The reason? Well my copy of Uncharted 2 has been through about 3 hands already and by the end of the year it'll have gone through between 4 and 20 peoples hands, depending on whether or not anyone decides to keep it. I wouldn't be surprised if twice as many people play Uncharted 2 as buy it.

My PS3 is attached to the home entertainment unit, a large screen Sony Bravia. So what were they thinking in making the game single player only? Its hard enough finding time to play games nowadays and even harder to play a single player only game.

Sony has NO BUSINESS releasing a system designed to be the home theatre king and NOT put a focus on local multiplayer. The moment the system is in the home theatre unit, single player games become less valuable because I always have to compete with others who may want to use the PS3 for other things.

Idiots!

Local multiplayer? Splitscreen was removed to avoid sacrificing visuals. Why not just play online?
