Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 announced for DS

This may be kind of off-topic, but wasn't the Wii supposed to be getting a DQ spin-off or a remake? They are still announcing DS games. I have no doubts SE will be focusing solely on DQX for the Wii, they don't seem to care much for the console, which is weird. I still say that DQX was an arrangement between Nintendo and SE, not a SE only kind of thing.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

I believe Dragon Quest VII will be on DS too.
So, no, not the last.

Hard to say, but it does seem like Square-Enix wants to branch out from its two major series and focus on new types of games so you never know.

Why nothing anounced for the Wii? Very weird... A spinoff was already succesful yet they refuse to invest on that.

Dammit Square-Enix enough with the spin-offs, where's Dragon Quest X!

How technical is your game?

I loved DQMJ. This is a welcoming news.

I still need to get the first...forgot about it until I saw this announcement.

DQX is till 2+ years off.  DQVII Wii is inevitable, but it won't announced until TGS at earliest.

They may be wanting to ride the DQ craze wave that DQIX generated on the DS, but if they are giving the Wii their biggest game, why not support the console at all?

Monsters has always been a handheld series.  The only time we ever had a console release (on PS1), it was just a collection of GB ports.

I just don't see this precluding more DQ on Wii, it's NOT a sign that there won't be some DQ remakes/spinoffs ahead of DQX.  If it was DQ Swords DS or DQVII or something, I could see leaning in that direction but Joker 2?
