Obama vs. Romney 2012

President Obama (D) 35 54.69%

Fmr MA Gov Mitt Romney (R) 29 45.31%

Total:64

I picked Obama. I think that he will continue to do nothing.

I see Mitt Romney doing bad things.

Is there a third choice, because I don't like either.

Still, I agree with Stof that if he passes THIS healthcare bill he's screwed.

I mean, it's so unpopular the Dems lost an election in the State that is for Universal Healthcare more than any other. (They in fact have their own.)

Not only that... but it was the seat of a beloved Democrat who's one great regret in life was he never accomplished Universal Healthcare. Ironically all he had to do to pass it was agree with the Nixon plan instead of his own. Richard Nixon's plan would actually be considered way left wing then Obama's current plan. Yet still I bet way more palatable to Republicans now a days.

The Republicans know this is his weakspot too... they keep hammering at him for not keeping his word. I just saw a senator say for like 20 minutes the other day "We should go back to what Obama said he wanted, renegotiate the whole thing and put C-SPAN cameras in there... open it up to the public."

The republicans are playing the transparency card on Obama. Not a good situation for him... really his problem is... he's let congress highjack his important legistlations and he doesn't want to look weak/lose congress support by getting the reigns on it. The Democratic Congress doesn't respect him...

I gotta hope he gets his balls back... I actually think he wanted to change washington... but he's let his own party bully him rather then act like the head of the Democratic party.

Ironically if the Democrats lose a crapload of seats in the midterm election... or in 2012... it may be the BEST thing for Obama... since the Congress won't be able to have so much sway over him anymore... and theoretically a lot of those replaced should be Republicans that lean Libretarian and would be willing to go along with some of the "change washington" stuff.

I said if he FAILS to pass through healthcare reform he's screwed.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

I still think that the Republicans are going to swing very severely to the right for this next election, then moderate some come 2016. But it'll be a tea partier that they put on the ticket in 2012. Not Palin, of course, who is just going to settle into her analyst role at this point, but someone very much like her

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

He's doomed if he fails to pass a bill that most of America doesn't want passed?

I could be wrong but I really don’t see this as being that likely of a match-up; it is certainly possible, and Romney is probably the frontrunner of known possible candidates, but I really think that it is possible that an outsider could come out of nowhere and get the Republican candidacy.

While I think he is too inexperienced to be a successful candidate for president, and I suspect he probably has a lot of skeletons in his closet that would prevent his run, I do think that the Republicans may be looking for someone like Scott Brown for the 2012 election. Basically, someone who is good enough looking and a strong enough speaker/debater to go toe-to-toe with Obama in a televised debate; and still being a man of the people with a populist message that can attract the independent voters without alienating the conservative base.

Personally, I think that Bobby Jindal is a more likely candidate that Romney ...

I would definately go with Obama here, but I must say that there are a lot better Republican choices out there. Romney has flipped on almost every political issue he has been involved with, one day he is a govenor supporting the very liberal policies and governent involvement of healthcare in his state, then the next day he is a presidential candidate putting his crazily conservative, Mormon ideas on the rest of us.

If Republicans put forth a reasonable, moderate candidate, such as Olympia Snowe, I dont think Obama has a chance in 2012. Not only would Olympia Snowe win with her policies in today's political climate, but the black man vs white woman racial tensions would come into play here in Snowe's favor (its sad to say but we all know that this would be factor).

Although I would like to warn Republicans that 2012 may not be bright as they think. Americans are easily presuaded by our country's economy, and if Obama is in office when the economy turns around he will be in a great position for re-election. Let me remind you that Franklin Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan faced unpopularity and difficulty in their early years, but once the economy turned around (regardless if you think they are responsible for it or not), they became super popular with the American people and invincible at the polls.

Healthcare was not the reason that Democrats lost in Massachusetts, nor will it be a reason that Democrats lose any election.  The economy is the only thing that matters in today's political climate, and it doesn't matter what policies a politician puts forth, if their party is in power and things are not improving under their watch, they are on the cutting block.

The same reason Democrats were victorious in 2008 will be the same reason Republcians are victorious on 2010, Americans want their economy to improve fast and the people in power are seen as responsible for it.
