Forums - Nintendo - A thread to remember the epicness of Chrono Trigger!!

Best game ever! I loved the 12000 BC world up in the sky...Zeal was absolutely beautiful at that time! Easily the best music ever! I had played this game so many times back in the day that I had pretty much every word of dialogue memorized at one point! This thread makes me want to stop playing through Ratchet and Clank ACIT(which I'm currently playing right now) and play through Chrono Trigger again! Chrono Cross may not have been the best sequel as far as following the story of Chrono Trigger but if the game stands on its own merits it also one of my favorite games ever!

@DaveD:
Yeah, I can't.... but I hate Rickrolling, and I love Robo's theme!!

CT is everything that an RPG should be.
The first two RPGs I ever played were CT and SMRPG.
After that, playing FF II or FF III (US SNES numbering) with their random battles was tedious at best and not something I wanted to waste time doing.

I have CT ready for the DS so when my son has mastered reading he can enjoy that game.

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

The translation differences of the DS and non DS versions is annoying to get used to if you started with the DS one and moved back =/

EH! This game is so good!

The best RPG and the best 2D platformer are connected. Coincidence? I don't think so!

Things I have the most fond memories:

- Zeal, it's mysterious feeling and music.
- The Green Dream quest, specially when all of your characters are in the forest.
- The future and it's sad music.
- The "evolving" items.
- Pretty much everything.

Better than any Final Fantasy game. Even 6. Had great personality and a powerful story that didn't knock you over the head. Not to mention the very fun combat and God-like music. The best music in a game besides Zelda: Oot and Zelda: MM.

To be honest, I think Mitsuda surpassed his work in Chrono Trigger with Chrono Cross, however, Chrono Cross was a shitty game and so the music isn't as memorable. I casually listen to Chrono Cross music all the time, despite never beating (nor enjoying) Chrono Cross.

Chrono Trigger is my number 1 game of all time though, in my opinion it does everything perfectly, and nothing poorly. Great character development and backstory, some nice plot twists, superb pacing, no random battles, beautiful art design, haunting melodies, replayability, tons of stuff to collect; Chrono Trigger had it all.

My favorite moment of CT is probably when you go to Magus' castle, I adore the ending you get when you beat the game early after obtaining the Masamune. Seeing Frog's silhouette atop Magus' castle is absolutely epic.

Curses, I've beaten CT well over 50 times, but this thread makes me want to play it yet again.

Currently playing: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, NBA2k11, Metal Gear Solid, Picross 3d

Definately my favourite JRPG, absolutely awesome and magical game.

I loved the sidequests, unlike other game's sidequests these sidequests all had importance to the characters and the story and they were all worthy to make.
