Heavy Rain, one of the most anticipated games of the year is undoubtably one of the most innovative as well. Will it live up to everyone’s expectations though? Michael Pachter thinks not.
On a recent episode of Game Trailer’s Bonus round Pachter openly shared his doubts as to the game’s commercial success. Although he is personally looking forward to the game he doubts it will do well in the market. I love the game but “I’m an old guy,” says Pachter who seems to think only those of us who are drawn to long drawn out books and dark movies will be able to appreciate the game.
When asked if he thought it would make it’s money back, Pachter responded “Probably not, it’s too niche and it’s a new IP. New IP and niche is just tough… If it doesn’t appeal to the masses – if you can’t sell it at Walmart, you aren’t gonna sell millions”.
Several of the other guests on the show seem to agree… we’ll it’s best heard from Pachter’s own mouth.
