Forums - Sony Discussion - Buying A UPS For PS3

Its not for the save data its more because it happens 5 6 times a day in my country so my PS3 could not hold it so it isnt much for the data its more so that it wont damage itself.

Let me state something in my house theres a backup for when the power goes away (and a generator but we rarely turn it on) and when the power goes out my tv refrigarator lamps fans and a few other things dont turn off when the power goes out.
P.S I understand your confusion but i only want a UPS that can hold my PS3 when playing UNCHARTED2

I dont connect my TV to my UPS because its not hd so it doesnt go off when the power goes down.

Am i understanding this? Did he say his tv doesn't turn off when the power goes out? I really don't understand how not being HD would mean it doesn't turn off.

No, his TV isn't in danger of losing data.

Of course I'm wondering why you need to actually bother with a UPS for your PS3.  I understand you'd like to save your data in case your power goes out, but I don't know, I wouldn't really worry about it unless you're in a place that something like that frequently happens.

It seems more like a waste than any save data that *might* be lost.

How could an HDTV lose data? I am absolutely positive that my tv wouldn't be affected if i just unplugged it while i was using it.

Are you just not reading what people wrote or you trying to fuck with me?  o.O

He's not worried about losing data on his TV because his TV has no data so he has no need to plug it into his UPS.

If you read it he said the tv doesn't turn OFF. SO STOP F'IN CRITISCING ME. HOW DOES A TV NOT TURN OFF IF THE POWER STOPS GOING TO IT?

read the above post i have a backup for when it happens but when the power goes off the backup cant keep it running so i need one that can hold it for a few seconds until the backup kicks in and it covers the PS3

That makes more sense, however it would be better to hook both the TV and the PS3 in the UPS, because when the pwer goes off, the TV may not lose data, but you can at least see what you are doing on your PS3 to get to the point of saving the data instead of trying to it with the TV off.

You still dont understand the TV doesnt turn off. It stays on I can see whats going on in the screen when the power goes away because the backup in my house keeps it on its only my PS3 that turns of when the power goes away. So no need to connect my TV to a UPS.

Spike if your inverter covers for your tv,fan, lighting in the house etc. why would you want a UPS  for your ps3 only? It would be much more easier if you buy a power extension and plug the tv and the ps3 in the same plug were the power remains after the power go out and the inverter takes over.

For the people that don't know what his issue is.

He wants a ups for his ps3 because in his country the power goes out and his inverter takes over but he does not cover the ps3 only his Tv,lighting in his house, fans etc. So he wants a separate unit only for his ps3 so it don't become damage from the power just being cut off from the ps3.

Exactly. Your understood completly except one small detail. My PS3 is connected to the same plug as my TV. I even changed it places (my dads an engineer and he told me this that maybe the plug had a problem so I switched plugs). The thing is my PS3 turns off but nothing else I dont know why maybe its because of the excess of power being used in my house.

The only things that turn off are my computers, Xbox 360, and Ps3 but my computers and xbox have a ups each i just need to find one for my ps3 thats all i need

APC makes some of the best UPS's on the market and should have a solution for you. Many of them have power cleaners on them as well which may be of some interest to you because of the power problems you have. They are expensive though, but are well worth it.

The 600 watts you are using should be more than enough to power your PS3 for a few minutes. After a while the batteries will stop holding a charge. A strong power surge can stop the device from funtioning properly as well.

so your saying that my 600 watts one is probably damaged right.

Ok spike i completely understand your ps3 issue its because your convert sends energy in a form of time so it don't waste your inverters battery soon so some devices tend to have issues with it such has fan might make more noise. I think the issue with your ps3 is that when the inverter kicks in your ps3 and the power have a time delay so the ps3 turns of to protect itself i am no pro so i may be wrong. So i guess you may need a ups then. So if i am correct your 600w ups does last you so u can save your data?
