Around the Network

Based on the latest reviews coming in, I'm going to actually put Tatsunoko vs Capcom in the 91-93 range.

I think Metroid could do a little better. I mean, the only thing that reviewers notice when they're reviewing a game is the graphics and it looks Metroid will have some good ones so I think it'll get a better score. I cant really say a specific number tho.

For the rest I think it's pretty accurate.

- Zelda Wii: 95-99

- Galaxy 2: 85-95 (it will be criticized because it's a sequel, thus not as original and fresh as Galaxy 1. 1st Party Nintendo games especially seem to really get criticized for that, *a lot*, while other -mainly 'hardcore' HD games- don't, at least not as much. I don't get this. If a game's considered brilliant, people shout out for a sequel, then when they get that, they whine and say it's too much like the original. However when they DO get a sequel that's innovative, they whine it's too different from the original. This happens a lot, and that's one of the reasons I hardly pay attention to 'professional' reviewers' opinions anymore).

- NMH2: 80-90

- Red Steel 2: 80-90

- Monster Hunter 3: 85-90

- Endless Ocean 2: 75-85

Also, most of these will undoubtedly get scored down for the simple reason that they're Wii games, and will thus be unjustly compared to PS360 games. 'Professional' reviewers seem to LOVE doing that, which I find illogical. You don't compare PS3 and PS2 games either, nor 360 and XBox games. Comparing PS3 and 360 games, okay, but why anyone would compare Wii games to either of the 2 is beyond me. However, it's done all the time.

I think you are overestimating Monter Hunter 3, they've never been in the 90's on meta and Famitsu's score isn't really something to hang your hat on otherwise TLR would be much higher than it is.

The hardcore reviewers who bash wii games a lot are going to complain that Monster hunter 3 is too hardcore. Mark my words.

Galaxy 2: 85

Metroid: Other M : 89

Zelda Wii: 97-98

No more heroes 2: 86

Tatso whatever the name is: 88-90 (Seemed like a pretty good game when I watched some reviews)

It's a fair complaint of Galaxy 2 though, from what I've seen. It doesn't even look like they've added much dramatically different, just a few new costumes and yoshi for certain bits. I've no real problem with this, as the original is absolutely amazing and all I want is more of the same, but as someone who writes reviews for a website - it is obligatory to mark a game down for being 'more of the same', as I feel only truly great games (9.6+) are those which are fresh and innovative.

I've never really seen a bias towards PS360 games in this sense more then Nintendo games.

Capcom vs tat-i-dont-know-what-that-is is headed to 90+ too, I'm actually tempted to get it. Wish it was on my PS3 though >_>.

So then, why did Halo 2 and Halo 3 get top notch ratings across the board?

Or Gears of War 2 for the matter?

Or MGS4?

Or Soul Calibur 4?

Modern Warfare 2?

etc etc etc.

If Super Mario Galaxy 2 gets great reviews based on what IT is as a game, then cool. But if they give that "it's more of the same" crap, then it's pretty clear that they're doing that because it's a Nintendo game.
