Another 8/10 from the Sixthaxis.com

Synopsis:

Pros:

Audacious premise some will fall into and never re-surface from.

Not another typical FPS; takes chances and pulls most off with aplomb.

Promotes smart play and a collaborative effort, embracing the future of gaming as being online.

Deep immersion.

Huge scope for re-playability and customisation.

Cons:

Visually not the most impressive game out there.

Controls can be finicky at times.

Visibility of what’s going on at a higher level can be sometimes hidden to those on the ground.
Enjoyment can depend on others’ investment in the idea of collaboration.

Edit: they state their Review is based on the Beta

Something wrong with my post?

yes you copy & pasted it directly I think with maybe an advert code.

Well, actually i wanted to make my own "First MAG Review"-thread, when i saw yours and posted the other review in here without looking, but your explanation is good too!

Not sure what you are talking about, I have not created a thread about this.

All of these early reviews are based on the Beta. I say wait after reviewers played the game for at least 40 hours and post their reviews (should be this weekend). Any reviews before 1/28/2010 should not be viewed as credible.

Granted MAG will be hit of miss for a lot of people but a good reviewer will put some time into the game before they go off and score the game like this. MAG is not like Halo or COD, it's more like an MMO for FPS the game is massive even in the beta.
Reviewers will need time to properly review this game.

...yes, but darth did, i was talking to him

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

^ ^ Except Wii games don't sport 256-players.

OT: It just got an unsettling review of 6.8/10 From NowGamer.

Don't think NowGamer are on Metacritic, fortunately.

Why is that "fortunately"?

Low reviews aren't good from whatever source. This game really needs at least 1.5M players to have legs given that the 1.5M will be split geographically and they need to fill 256 player servers to give the advertised game for the people who want to play it 6-12 months from now.

Unfortunately reviews seem to be as much a popularity contest than anything else, and popularity can mean sales.

Do you know what its like to live on the far side of Uranus?

So they reviewed the game by just playing beta?

Because (a) they're rubbish (b) I want MAG's Metascore be close to my prediction in Seece's thread.

This is sad, those reviewers sacrifice everything for the sake of beeing first, without actually giving the game a proper go. Even if they got some special servers and early access, I highly doubt that they've invested enough time to properly judge. These so called reviews should be labeled as a beta hands on.
