Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony explains the lack of MAG reviews.

I would agree with that. I'd still be worried/annoyed with reviews if they're going to be like IGN's recent open beta preview though.

"Modern Warfare this"
and
"Modern Warfare that"

Did they really compare MAG to a 9vs9 or whatever MW2 is during the entire preview?

If so that is incredibly sad and pathetic of IGN.

I like IGN so I hope they don't go that route with the review. These 2 games should not be directly compared what so ever.

Because maybe they've asked them not to review the game based on the beta, but based on the full release game, and since you need a proper 128v128 match to experience the game, there's no point sending out evaluation copies, since there wouldn't be enough of them to make a proper review.

That's my guess anyway.

that doesnt explain why there are no reviews... it explains why it would be difficult to review....

There is currently 3 reviews.

I assume that most reviewers want to actually play the game how you're meant to with all the lag or not that it entails.  There have been a few reviews now, but they aren't all that trustworthy since it doesn't seem like it would be possible to get the required people together unless you are just reviewing the beta.

...

yeah, I second this. Any review released before tomorrow is for the most part a review based on BETA impressions. You can't review an online-only game properly, specially one were the key element is "massive multiplayer games" when not many people are online.

I don't even think this game has a campaign, so really, they wouldn't be able to do a complete review without the full experience of a 256 player game (the main draw of the title). So unless every reviewer in the world agreed to get on at one time and have a really big game, they'd each need to wait until the game came out. You know, makes sense...

Which wouldn't be right considering the fact that if they are reviewing based on the beta then they are reviewing only around 40% of the game since Domination and Sabotage were the only 2 modes available.

According to GamesRadar, there's an embargo, and they didn't think the review event gave an accurate representation of MAG.

IGN has the least credibility of any "mainstream" site in my book, for a variety of reasons. Will be interesting to see what Gamespot says, my take the past 2 years is that they are currently the most independant and professional.

The smaller sites are always a crap shoot, some of them have some really good reviewers - but also some really bad ones. Very little editorial consistancy either. Metacritic isnt worth much either in my book, because they include so many unreliable sites for their scores... I actually wish I could find some more decent review sites TBH.

Unless Sony did some money-hatting, I am going to guess that we will see lots of "safe" 7's and 8's for MAG.
