Forums - Gaming Discussion - Just finished Dragon Age:Origins, incredible game, the best RPG this Gen !?

My top 5, on reflection, has changed.

It's now:
1. Dragon Age: Origins
2. The World Ends With You
3. Demon's Souls
4. Fable 2
5. Fallout 3

I removed mass effect and bumped stuff down for Fable II. Mass Effect was a fun shooter, but the RPG mechanics were not particularly good.

Great game, loved it but can we ( console players ) all agree that the graphics are teh sux and in dire need of a new engine or ..... something for the next DA game.

The graphics were nothing special, but they fit the game well I thought, and didn't hinder the experience in any way for me. I think it's a good example of a game done so well that it doesn't need Crysis graphics to be appealing.

The game, or the next game I should say just needs Much sharper textures ( mud anyone? ) better load times more like Batman AA and a Good random dungeon generator

Diablo did it over ten years ago whats so freakin hard about making one for a forest, a cave,
a dungeon/castle ect.

Although the random battles between moving from town to town add a little to the replay value the enviroments get stale after 1 or 2 playthroughs.

None of that is really an issue on PC... (arguably you disliking the environments). Not everyone wants random dungeons. That's a style of game called roguelike, and some people would rather have the more nuanced dungeons you can get out of having them premade. For example The Fade mission in Redcliffe would never be possible with roguelike dungeons.

I don't mind the graphics. They're good enough for a game with that much content.

I must need to play more, because the bit that I've played I have no liked at all.

How far r u in the game?

About 2-3 hours in, I stopped playing it about a week ago due to just being bored with it.

What? the intro stories were super fun, what class/race did you go with?

I'm a Dalish Elf. I'm still going to give a fair chance, but nothing positive to really say so far.

O, ok, I could possibly see that. I found the Dalish part of the story in the forest to be my least favorite. I loved the intro story for human noble, city elf, and mage. Try one of those! :D

I might in the future, but first I need to get through this.

Although, I won't be surprised if I don't like it. WRPGs have been very mixed for me this gen.

I agree, the Dalish were the weakest of the intro stories, but still fun. Personally my favorites were the two dwarf stories. The Dwarf Nobles and the Dwarf Commoners. Those were pretty amazing.
