Forums - General Discussion - Who is the worst actor or actress on today?

people clearly haven't seen Empire of The Sun. tough role for any 12 year old, but Christian Bale pulled it off.

and i LIKE Keanu Reeves. Bill & Ted, Speed, A SCanner Darkly, OH AND DON'T FORGET THE DEVIL'S ADVOCATE. he's cool. i like him.

worst actress of recent times has to be that Kristen Stewart from Twilight, and im not just saying that. i just reckon I could have acted better in that movie than her, in which case she must be pretty damn terrible. just my opinion though :)

I'm not here to argue that Twilight doesn't suck. It does. Hard.

But Kristen Stewart is not that bad. She did a pretty good job in Adventureland and Into The Wild. Don't judge her only by this horrible, horrible movie.

Keanu has been in great movies indeed. I love the ones you mentioned. But what makes those movies great is not, I repeat, NOT Keanu's acting. Except maybe Bill & Ted.

And Empire of The Sun was great. I saw that movie 2 times before realizing that was Bale.

fair point, but if the acting doesn't sit right the whole movie will not go well, for me anyway.

so in that case, i can't really say that Reeves is a bad actor, because if i couldn't tolerate his acting i wouldn't enjoy those movies so much.

and in Twilight, she really, REALLY sucked. she was wooden, had no natural-ness about her, and i just found her performance worse than anyone else's.

Empire of the Sun was the first Christian Bale movie i saw, when i was about 10. i loved it. it makes me cry every time i see it. most child actors suck, and it was a deep, sad movie, but he did really well.

Also, I hated it when it was en vogue for a few months to claim that he was brilliant in Magnolia. No, he wasn't and he never will be.

He WAS brilliant in Magnolia. Why? Because all he had to do was play Tom Cruise, Douchebag Extraordinaire. He nailed that one out of the park.

Ha, I KNEW you would step in as soon as Magnolia is mentioned. Look at it this way: A real outstanding actor, like - say - Philip Seymour Hoffman or Robert Duvall would have actually played the role, not himself in a role. Cruise playing Cruise doesn't make him a good actor.

I didn't say he was a good actor. I merely said that he was good at playing Tom Cruise, Douchebag Extraordinaire, which is exactly what the role required.

It's the same reason I won't give Mickey Rourke any credit for The Wrestler. The dude was just re-living his life. No kudos for that.

Easy, Ben Stiller.

Watch some books made into movies that no one's ever heard about. THEN you'll see bad acting.

We had to watch the movie version of "Zachary Beaver Comes To Town" a couple years back. Dear lord, some people should not be allowed near a camera.
