"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

i agree just leave it, its been out, it was a classic in most peoples cases, just let it be and move on and make 15 16 and 17, maybe one of them will be as good.

didnt they said XIV was the last?

Wada did say they might not make this sort of game internally anymore because he thought the FFXIII team could succeed at creating something totally new, but it was also only about a month ago that he said he wanted Final Fantasy to go on forever. They could possibly be looking at outsourcing the development of Final Fantasy like they did with Dragon Quest IX. I'd do cartwheels if they got Mistwalker to make the next FF.

You know, I have a theory here:

They wil remake a FF title if the installment number has doubled.
So, in other words, FF4 remake is out when FF8 is released. So you can't expect a FF7 remake before FF14 is out.

playing right now: Xenoblade Chronicles

Hype-o-meter, from least to most hyped:  the Last Story, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Playstation ViTA

bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.

Hey, hate the hype, not Cloud! He hasn't done anything wrong

I agree with the rest of your post, however; FF7 needs to be left alone, especially since Squeenix seem to be having a enough trouble nowadays making new games that the fans like. 7 ain't broke, so they shouldn't go trying to fix it. Actually, they can remake 2D games; all they really have to do is make them 3D, so there's a smaller risk of messing up.

Also, I can't believe that no-one has mentioned Chrono Trigger! (or maybe someone has and I wasn't paying attention) It's the best 2D game by Square IMO, and they wouldn't have to spend a penny; they'd just have to stop sending C&Ds to fan groups on condition that Square have all the rights to whatever remake they have in the works.

Remakes just cheapen the original. Enjoy the games they were meant to be played.

Nomura’s statement will surely disappoint the core fans of the series, and classic gamers in general.

First of all, the PSX isn't classic gaming.

Second, people started asking for a FFVII remake when it was only about 5 or 6 years old which was pretty ridiculous. It doesn't have much to do with the merits of the game or even how long it has been since the game came out. It is just a lot of goofy otaku noise.

The problem with FF7 is that it's a game that really hasn't aged well. Looking at its polygons, you can see how it's an old 3-D game. By even the FF9 point, smoothing had become much better, and made FF7 look old, hence the early startup for a remake. (I do think that FF4 has held the test of time better than 7.)

Nonetheless, I do agree on the classic gaming bit. The last gen of "classic" was the 16/24 bit era.

-On a quest for the truly perfect game; I don't think it exists...

Big mistake for Square Enix FF7 could have been PS3s killer game, they haven't done a good FF game since FFX.

FF11 - Bad
FFX-2 - Horrible
FF12 - Boring
FF13 - Average at best.

And FF14s gonna be another terrible online game, they keep blowing there chance.

And now we'll end up with the kiddy Kingdom Hearts 3.

looks like its Kingdom hearts III thats going to be revealed soon
