...the talking advertisements on this website are extremely annoying.

I was browsing it as usual and listening to some nice Zelda music with my headphones, and then suddenly right when the song gets good I hear "CONGRATULATIONS, YOU'VE BEEN SELECTED TO WIN A FREE APPLE I-PHONE". 

I have to keep my speakers muted whenever I go on this site now!

Is there anyway to get these not to show up?

There have been 2 separate threads about the ad, and I agree that it's quite annoying. I doubt there's much that ioi can do though.

I don't know what arrangements Ioi has with his ad supplier but he can't control the exact ads that are displayed but he can request specific types to not be displayed.....usually.


However, I've learned the more annoying an ad is the higher the CPM or CPC is, meaning it makes more money.

Not sure what you're so annoyed about....you did just get selected to win an iPhone!

Anyway, I don't think I've ever seen an ad on this site.

You can better say: 'this whole website is annoying'. I'm sorry, but ever since its been out of air its going downhills with every day. Slowing down, errors all the time, annoying pop ups, even the drive cleanser, no matter what browser I'm running its getting worse and worse. I may be happy it runs smoothly for about a minute or 10. I'm telling you, it ain't fun visiting anymore, this way.

 Three easy steps:

  1. Download Firefox 2.
  2. Install Adblock Plus.
  3. Enjoy ad free internet.

Opera -> Right-click -> Block content -> Shift+Left click on anything you want to block.

This way you can kill the annoying ads, butyou still have the other ones to make you feel less guilty. Also, if you find someones signature annoying, or their avatar offensive you can block it.

 

EDIT: Hell, F12 ->  Disable sound (Opera)
