Why they're losing money, probably has a lot to do with the recession and high competition from Apple. Sony Ericsson has much less market share than it used to.

I browse financial websites and when I see related stuff I usually post it. The last one I remember doing was AMD. It's relevant for Sony, therefore it belongs here.

They pay dividends to Sony and Ericsson when they make profits, and they get cash injections from both to keep them alive.

Sony Ericsson should just stop making crappy phones, and they will be fine.

Sony Ericsson is its own entity even if sony owns part of it. The Company is self sufficient and independent and reports its own quarterly reports. So I think this news has no relation to gaming, and is completely OT.

I could find a lot of earlier Sony threads where no one complained, but I'm not going to bother.

@honeybadger this fiscal loss will impact Sony's net income directly. Do you want to recognize that now, or do you prefer to wait until Feb. 4 to eat your crow?

In my opinion these forums go beyond being merely about game sales and into being about the gaming companies. There have always been, for as long as I have been here at least, many conversations about the revenues, profits and losses of the major players in the gaming industry.

This does in some way effect the future of Sony's gaming (even if the effect is small) because Sony operates as a single large company and in the end wants to turn an overall profit. If it loses somewhere it needs to profit elsewhere.

While, maybe this should be in off topic, historically pretty much every Sony Ericsson thread has been made in the sony forum (go figure). Also, all Microsoft financial information goes in the Microsoft forum. As proven by NJ5, this is directly related to Sony's overall profit, which will get discussed in this forum.

If you have a problem with the thread, report it rather than trying to derail it. Besides, all you are doing is bumping it and keeping it in the hot topics, which is counter of what you guys seem to want.
