low 80's is a good safe prediction. I am hoping it drops to the high 70's.

That's pathetic.

On topic: Predicting these is impossible, because you're basically predicting what dozens and dozens of reviewers will say off of no real evidence (right now, we only have 2 or 3 reviews). This isn't like predicting sales, where we can rely on past sales trends or shifts in market interest. This is simple guesswork.

Generally games which have less than 90's appear first, go on to have low 80's or high 70's scores. I can see alot of reviewers reviewing this low 80's and mid 70's.

And that will obviously come true for FF13? Look at the reviews for any Final Fantasy game. They vary greatly. Look at Final Fantasy 10. Despite being over 90% (fitting the randomly given definition of AAA), it still has plenty of 4/5 (or 8/10) reviews, as well as a variety of other scores. Your strategy might work for certain types of games, but not Final Fantasy games. So how about just waiting to see what happens?

I was only saying why I made my choice on 82. It's a hypothetical thread anyway. Dont take it so seriously.

The internet is serious business. And if you're going to predict a score that's vastly different from many other major iterations in the series in a site of hundreds of Final Fantasy fans, you better be able to defend your opinion well.

I am a FF fan. I just dont have aproblem scoring some of them what I think. By the way 82 isnt my personal score, it's what I think the media average will be. My score will probably be quite different.

Today's low 90's and high 80's are yesterday's low 80's and high 70's. Today's scores are usually inflated and are more or less marketing tools to promote/sell games in the modern era.

Recent popular Multi-platform games worth noting.

1. GTA IV deserved its high 90's?? It was a good game but high 80's would of been more reasonable.

2. Modern Warfare 2 was over rated with its mid 90 review scores. Scored the same as the original Modern Warfare but was considered inferior by many gamers.

3. Resident Evil 5 scored around mid 80's those scores were reasonable.

Very few JRPG games have scored above 80 on metacritic. Eternal Sonata, Blue Dragon, Star Ocean: A Last Hope Lost Odyssey and countless others have scored below 80. Why? A simple explanation for this could be JRPGs have not progressed much since last generation and appear stale to both gamers and reviewers. Only exceptions to this are: Valkyria Chronicles (90) I think that is a JRPG. Tales of Vesperia (85).

We have received mixed reviews from Japanese gamers and media outlets in regards to FFXIII. Japanese reviewers tend to give their games the most favourable reviews when reviewing JRPGs. Why should Western reviewers be any different to the Japanese reviewers? Western reviewers tend to have different tastes and they tend be more critical of reviewing games.

BTW: High 70's and low 80's IMO are good review scores.
