Recent popular Multi-platform games worth noting. 1. GTA IV deserved its high 90's?? It was a good game but high 80's would of been more reasonable. 2. Modern Warfare 2 was over rated with its mid 90 review scores. Scored the same as the original Modern Warfare but was considered inferior by many gamers. 3. Resident Evil 5 scored around mid 80's those scores were reasonable. Very few JRPG games have scored above 80 on metacritic. Eternal Sonata, Blue Dragon, Star Ocean: A Last Hope Lost Odyssey and countless others have scored below 80. Why? A simple explanation for this could be JRPGs have not progressed much since last generation and appear stale to both gamers and reviewers. Only exceptions to this are: Valkyria Chronicles (90) I think that is a JRPG. Tales of Vesperia (85). We have received mixed reviews from Japanese gamers and media outlets in regards to FFXIII. Japanese reviewers tend to give their games the most favourable reviews when reviewing JRPGs. Why should Western reviewers be any different to the Japanese reviewers? Western reviewers tend to have different tastes and they tend be more critical of reviewing games. BTW: High 70's and low 80's IMO are good review scores. |
You seem to be forgetting Final Fantasy 12.
