agreed. I don't know why everyone is on my ass though. This is still hype through and through.

People probably thought you said "they are just hyping it" in a negative light
I think they ARe hyping it, but the example is relevant too & makes sense
All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey
Good, good. The Reach take over of interwebz forums has begun.

how about Hiroshima, or Vietnam. How about these things we've had called "war"? They draw a far closer parallel and are more well known. |
When you draw an analogy to something you use the most popular example. If your talking about a movie where robots take over the world you usually reference Terminator, sure there are others but thats the one most people know and understand. Your making a big deal out of nothing. The most famous story/movie where audiences came in knowing how it was going to end is Titanic hence he made the example.
Just to prove my point you said he should have used Midway as an example, I haven't even heard of it. Why go out of your way to make an obscure example when the most common and well known one is sitting in front of you. Again like I said your trying to make connections that just don't exist, he made an analogy using a well known movie end of story, hes not trying to say its going to be the biggest game of all time like you keep trying to suggest.
The definitive evidence that video games turn people into mass murderers

I do, do you want me to tell you? It's because your first post in this thread was condescending and snarky, besides the fact that it added nothing to the conversation. When you were called out on it you went into full damage control mode getting on everybody elses asses.
Just because it's about Halo does not mean that everything is calculated to blow hype levels to astronomical proportions. Why is is so hard for you to accept that maybe, just maybe, Bungie only wanted to make a statement about the story? Don't worry, massive advertising for Reach is coming, you can make all the comments you want about hype then and I won't say a word, just give it a rest for once.
NKAJ said: wow so basically the halo game is gonna be sunk by a metaphorical iceberg ,in the form of killzone 3,erHUM..no ps3 bias here.... |
You know damn well that if any Killzone game ever went straight up against a Halo game, KZ would get it's throat sliced and the corpse would get pissed on. Vultures would then peck at it.
About "some people", from most of them I saw jokes, not hate. And Bungie deserved them, it isn't matter of doubting the quality of the game, but even 5 years old are aware of what they're going to face if they compare something to Titanic, both the movie and the ship.

Asking why people were on my ass was a rhetorical statement. I know full well why people are defending a comparison that is trite, at best.
EDIT: If you feel that I am flaming, you should report me rather than responding to me. I'll point out that I wasn't the one initiating any damage control. I have a strong opinion that this parallel is drawn for many reasons, not just the one you say it is for. Just because it fits one of the many requisites for drawing a parallel doesn't mean they aren't drawing anything more.
For example, one can describe to a child that a grapfruit is just like an orange. You might argue that because they are round, citrus, and similar in color, they are quite similar. However, for the intent of getting a child to eat said grapefruit, if one were to say a grapfruit is like an orange, I would call that "hyping" it as well.
I don't expect you to understand, you think I'm a troll of some kind.
Are they saying teen boys are going to play through the entire game for 1 boob shot?
