Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Halo: Reach is Titanic of games, says Bungie

A lot of people know that master chief is eventually going to be the last spartan so that tells you what's going to happen.

So you would rather he use some obscure example that potentially many people know nothing about? Halo Reach is like Hotel Rwanda, yea that sounds a lot better  I think this is called reading too much into a comment. He's drawing parallels between the stories, beyond that your just speculating aka pulling shit out of your ass.

Also some people in this thread need serious reading comprehension, although thats nothing new at vgchartz.

how about Hiroshima, or Vietnam. How about these things we've had called "war"? They draw a far closer parallel and are more well known.

Are you suggesting that we knew how Vietnam was going to turn out, or are you referring to a movie called Vietnam?

No, there was no movie, and we didn't know how it would turn out.

Nobody expected titanic to sink either. We only know the story because it's history. That is why I think the parallel is being drawn for the movie market's sake, because the reference to the story being similar is like picking up two blades of grass in a field and saying they look the same.

Are people missing entirely what he is saying?

The film Titanic was a story about what happened to the Titanic. We all knew before going to see Titanic how it ended. Halo Reach is a prequel to Halo CE. We all know the outcome, but it's the journey thats interesting. Thats why he has referenced Titanic.

This means that Reach could have what most FPS(Halo 3 included) don't have......a good storyline behind it that will drive the action on!!! Like Killzone 2

Jk right?

Halo destroys KZ in story. LOL.

both are space marine, war average crap :P.

If you think that you dont know much about Halo's story. It's a fantastic sci fi story even where films and books are considered. Yes it borrows ideas. But executes so well, with fantastic characters.

lol so it's going to sink?

Considering Halo's protagonist is Village People's lost member, rather than "story" or "storyline", the appropriate term should be "lyrics".

WHAT IS WRONG WITH SOME OF YOU!!

He compared it in a sense of impending tragedy, impending doom that would be there throughout the movie.

What better example of this than Titanic

As a statement it would make headlines & its accurate

some of you people

The film Apollo 13 was a story about what happened to the Apollo 13. We all knew before going to see Apollo 13 how it ended. Halo Reach is a prequel to Halo CE. We all know the outcome, but it's the journey thats interesting. Thats why he has referenced Apollo 13.

The film Midway was a story about what happened at Midway. We all knew before going to see Midway how it ended. Halo Reach is a prequel to Halo CE. We all know the outcome, but it's the journey thats interesting. Thats why he has referenced Midway.

SHould I continue?

Look, I'm not saying his analogy is invalid. I'm saying that while formulating that press release, why not use an example that was the highest grossing movie of all time? That is why it is hype.

If you look above, Midway is actually a much better example than Titanic because Midway was the loss of a settlement that culminated in the end of ww2.

Or, if you prefer an end where the good guys are the ones who are attacked first; Pearl Harbor.

wow so basically the halo game is gonna be sunk by a metaphorical iceberg ,in the form of killzone 3,erHUM..no ps3 bias here....

Perhaps he just picked one of the highest grossing films of all time as an example because more people would recognise it!  Seems as PR goes it did the job given the debate it stirred up though.
