MW2 (X360) is already near 10 mil, after only 10 weeks. It took Halo 3 damn near 2 years to hit 10 mil.
I'd say MW2 |
When Halo 3 and COD4 launch the userbase was around 12 ish million.
2 years later and after both games selling a ton load, MW2 opens to around 5 mill first week on Xbox alone.
I don't believe userbase growth matters to a game in the long run, take Gears for example, the first one had great legs. The second one was more frontloaded, at the end of the day they'll sell the same.
So Halo Reach will have massive first week sales, due to all the fans it's gathered over the last 2 years. the vast majority that bought Halo 3 first week will buy reach, plus a good chunk of the 7 million that bought it after the first week.
The reason why it will appeal to new comers as well, is because of the massive marketing it's bound to get.
Comparing COD4/MW2 to Halo 3/Halo Reach isn't that crazy is it?
Anyway my main point is Halo Reach is going to top every game on the 360 and will likley end this gen as the most sold X360 game.
