after reading the thread,just for the record i don't see MAG being a 5m+ game

but who knows,some people seem too think so

What i think Sony did wrong (and sorry i didn't check if someone said this already) is they didn't build an IP (beside GT) that can sell blockbusters, so they can rely on their own IPs if something goes wrong or if third parties leave your system (or don't develop exclusively for it).

When you don't develop several IPs that sells 5+ mil during your prime time (PS1 and PS2) you will have a hard time carrying yourself if third parties to ditch you.

Nintendo had the same Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Mariokart, etc. last generation. So... see that? The Game Cube didn't sell very much. I would venture to guess that if it wasn't for the motion controls I don't think the giant IPs that Nintendo owns would have carried the wii very far either. When you're selling millions of copies of games to the same people over and over again your user base is not going to grow by very much. Luckily for them this generation the Wii motion controls caught on. That breathed new life into their IPs.
