Fahrenheit (Indigo prophecy) the last game from Quantic Dreams should give you at least a little feel how Heavy Rain is...

Eh............. similar, but not the same. HEAVY RAIN gives far more options and isn't a pass or fail kind of game.

Yeah I know CGI...I only couldn't remind of any other game to compare with Heavy Rain. Let it call me Fahrenheit on steroids ;-D

If you understood how a game can be really typical and really different at the same time please explain.

He never once said anything was "typical". He said Sony goes for artsy/unique/risky games but says the game is different from what is considered the "norm". You're twisting the words deliberatley.

typ·i·cal  (tp-kl)

adj.
1. Exhibiting the qualities, traits, or characteristics that identify a kind, class, group, or category: a typical suburban community.
2. Of or relating to a representative specimen; characteristic or distinctive.
3. Conforming to a type: a composition typical of the baroque period.
4. also typ·ic (-k) Of the nature of, constituting, or serving as a type; emblematic.

Give it up already, you're purposely derailing the thread with no basis. At this point, you know what they call that.

Next time try using your logic then.

@ Ghost - Just how you can tell that a new car is a Ferrari at a quick glance even though its a car just out that they'ne never made before. You have no concept of branding or corporate image.

If the new car looks like a Ferrari IT HAS TO LOOK LIKE previous Ferraris, doesn't it ?

Typical Sony game: Sony is known for publishing games that do not meet standard conventions of what a BIG HIT are at the time. See ICO, Shadow of the Collosus, Little Big Planet, Flower, etc

Different type of game: seeing as David Cage has crafted something beyond mindless fun. Its less a game, more of an experience that you manipulate. This is meant to keep you geussing and wonder-full.

Does that help you at all?

It's good to see at least SOME of you trying appreciate something new.

Is this supposed to be directed at me?

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

I just got through reading this article. My favorite piece: (This is very much a 'Sony game'). Not only do I agree that it is, but I'm glad they mention that. Give better insight into Sony's tastes when it comes to sales. They prefer these artsy, story-driven games that don't do 10-20 million in sales, not even 5. They just prefer the top-notch quality, which as a gamer is most important.

Thats like totally not true. You're just spinning the fact that they haven't had a few massive sellers by saying 'oh they wanted it that way'. If they had released 2-3 5M + sellers you'd be singing another completely different tune 'gamers just respond well to quality Sony first party titles' or something like that. If SCE could make a game equivalent series of Spiderman they would!

It isn't? You can prove that it isn't, even when the article itself hints at it? Where in there do I say that they don't want high sales? I said the games they prefer don't sell those huge numbers. Sounds to me like an agenda you had in quoting me.

I think what my man CGI was getting at was not that sony dont want 10million seller games. Thats crazy talk, if one of their series started selling that much they would gladly embrace it(see GT).

What he means is that sony is looking to inovate a genre rather than just pump out what the rest off developers are doing. What was the idea behind Gran Turismo? To create the most realistic driving sim known to man, not to make a game that sells a lot. This was at a time when Racing games were pure arcade style and abhord realism, it was seen as not fun enough. This is Sony's trademark.

CGI, wouldn't you say that GTAIV is an artsy, story-driven game? how about MGS4? They are both top notch quality games as well. I'm not sure how Sony's inability to have a huge seller is related to that since top quality artsy story driven games are proven that they can be big sellers.

Also, I'm pretty sure Sony prefers games selling huge numbers like GT5 (widely considered the biggest Sony franchise) but it's just that they can't find/create any other game/franchise as big as GT.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.
