Forums - Nintendo - Wii has a very good third party support

You know, for almost 3 years of existence, people saw in the Wii a large decrease of confidence from third editors. My theory is that this never happened. In fact, the third party support increased a lot in 2009.

What people aren't considering is that those games are coming from little companies, not big like Ubisoft or Square Enix. VanillaWare made Muramasa, which is a brilliant title, a treasure on the Wii. We have the feeliing that there's no good third party support, but it's completely false. What we didn't get on 2009 are Nintendo games. Big Nintendo games. Because all the little companies like X-Seeds games aren't able to create massive hype by advertising. So their games aren't big hits like Assassin's Creed 2, but they are still excellent games.

We also got very good games in 2009 on the WiiWare. Bit Trip Void, LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias, Tales of Monkey Island, Final Fantasy After Years, Excitebike World Rallye...

So, I think we just get the feeling because they aren't big hit like those from third party on the PS3. Considering that, we got

Muramasa: TDB

Little King's Story

Dead Space Extraction

Resident Evil DC

Punch Out

New Super Mario Bros Wii

Wii Fit Plus

Wii Sports Resort

The Conduit

House of the Dead

MadWorld

A Boy and his Blob

Modern Warfare Reflex

So, yes, they aren't high profile game with huge advertising, but it's a very nice effort from little third party editors. The only party you should blame are big ones: Activision, Ubisoft, Square-Enix, Capcom...

i agree that wiiware does have very good support, excitebike is the most underrated downloadable game of 09. The wii not so much.

Punch Out,Wii Fit Plus, and Wii Sports Resort are 1st party aren't they? And I really wouldn't call a two year old port "good" 3rd party support.

Edit: I'm not saying that 3rd party support is bad. Just you picked a couple bad examples

new super mario bros wii is third party?

Just a list of good games. Not necessary third party.

But it SHOULD have GREAT support, that's the problem and Wii gets way more games than HD systems:

Dead Space Extraction, we wanted a RE4 like game not a on-rails games;(

Resident Evil DC, Capcom tricked poor wii gamers into getting the first one (With the promise of more RE, but we all wanted a REAL RE and a damn on-rail game!;(

MadWorld, least than Five hours......oh well at least I got it for 19.99^_^

Modern Warfare Reflex, each unit this game sells at this point is one to many, yeah we may get MW2 Reflex but what else? More on-rail games perhaps:(

House of the Dead, House of the Dead2&3 Wii sold +1.3M, but come on, look above how many on-rails games do they expect us to buy;(

Gaming make me feel GOOD!

Wii has passable 3rd party support. I'm being generous when I say that.

From the console leader, very poor support. As a console, it's not bad at all.

I don't think the wii has good 3rd party support.

But it sure as hell has the best first party support on any console(for me and many others)
