My mates 16 year old adopted brother bought a ps3 the other day. At the sametime his 3 best friends bought one as well. They asked me to recommend some games and after saying they like fps's i recommended kz2, mw2 and r2.

It has been a weak since they have had the ps3's, kz2 and mw2 and guess what? they are not interested in any other games, they played the sp for 5minutes and they do no plan to ever play it again and when i asked why, their reasoning was, "sp is boring in games, it is all about the mp."

So I thought maybe it is just them and i am blowing things out of proportion, but my friend who teaches at a school overheard some of his students talk about mw2. he asked them what they thought of the sp campaing and the game. non of the kids have actually completed the sp. most of them have owned the game since launch and they just find the sp pointless. when he asked them why they said they only bought the game for mp and most games sp are boring and they couldnt careless.

Not sure about you guys, but it is the story in sp I cannot live without. Games like, gow, sotc, uncharted, fable, mass effect, alan wake etc it is the story which gets me interested and the mp is a bonus feature. however, if this trend continues, will we see smaller sp's and devs concentrating more on mp? after all, these new gamers are possibly the feature of gaming :S

The singleplayer in MW2 was actually rather boring but still fun imo. It's just that the multiplayer is even more fun so I understand why they think the singleplayer is pointless.

Scary indeed. I think Infinity Ward has already adopted this trend in MW2. The sp in that game was really disappointing to me compared to COD4 (I played through the sp three times), but they really put a lot of attention in their mp this time around.

well, if they dont want to play the Killzone 2 SP they are insane

but lets be honist, SP in COD? if you know anthing about games, you know its crap! cod4 single player was horrible

didn't something like this started like at least 5 years ago? A lot of people just like to play MP, I just like to play SP, sicnc I normally suck at MP. It's like my younger cousin since he got GTA 3, he's gotten every GTA game since 3, and hasn't finished any of them, he just likes running around killing people.

I think the first question like you rightfully asked is what genre are they interested in. In my experience as well, 90% of those who play FPS and fighting games (from the dawn of time), play them for MP. Games like hack n slash and RPGs on the other hand are played for SP. I think its more of a genre thing and it doesn't mean that these guys would have no interest in a game like GoW3 because there's no MP

i like the SP ex. more than the MP only U2 MP is one that i actually play

Uncharted 2 vs CoD4? I can't compare two different genres. That would be both pointless and foolish.
