In an interview with Gamepro, North says 2010 "is gonna be a busy year", with work to be done on not only new Uncharted and Assassin's Creed games (he plays the heroes Nathan Drake and Desmond Miles, respectively), but "a couple of other big premiers that are still unannounced".
Great. Look, no offence to North, who is a talented man, but publishers really need to stop hiring this guy. Seems every game I play these days has him in there somewhere, and as soon as I hear him, I'm yanked out of the experience, because all I can think about is Nathan Drake, then all I can think is "man, I'm getting sick of hearing this guy's voice in every single game I play".
I mean, I was playing World in Conflict last week, and he even managed to turn up in that. World in Conflict!
We did have a prior post on Nolan North here: http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=97359&page=1
It does appear, however, that they both touch on what appears to be the same trend, which I say is a dysfunction with the videogame industry. This industry, as much as it brings entertainment, will take something that provides entertainment and beats it into the ground, draining all the magic out of it, and ruining its ongoing entertainment value. It is a plague of locust mentality that says you have to extract every last dollar out of something, future value be damned.
So now we take Nolan North, and he appears to be the next thing the industry will ruin. Of course EVERY SINGLE game out there is going to demand that he use his actual voice for characters in their games, because he is cool, and gamers want him. Yes, I like Nolan North. But you stick Nolan North in every single game out there, and I will get sick of Nolan North.
Wait, I GOT IT. This is a secret plot by Microsoft to undermind Uncharted as a franchise. Get Nolan to appear in every game possible, and then you get sick of him. So, no one will want to see the next Uncharted! Brilliant play Microsoft. WAY TO GO!
