Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Red Steel 2 launch date announced!

A release date has finally been set for Ubisoft's Red Steel 2. And no, nobody had to fly to France to get it.

Ubisoft's website announces the date for their Wii first-person shooter to be coming out on March 23, 2010. Red Steel 2 requires the use of the new Wii MotionPlus, which is actually coming out bundled upon release.

Finally a release date.

Great! No More Heroes 2 and Tatsunoko vs Capcom in January, Fragile in February, Red Steel 2 in March and Monster Hunter Tri in April.

Unfortunately Ubisoft is predicting only 500 K in sales for this game and doesn't care about it at all.

As long as it's good I don't really care what Ubisoft expects from it.

Didn't retro studios help them out a little bit when making this game? Probably ain't shovelware then.

We don't know that they don't care, your projecting. They have stuck with Nintendo since the start of this gen. so i wouldn't expect this to change now, especially when other companies continue to neglect the platform.

ot, good news. Im psyched for this.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

But they lowered their projections to 500K and blamed much of their lost revenues on "non casual" Wii games. It's not unfair to suggest that Ubisoft may have lost faith in the title (and among all "not casual" Wii titles).

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

I thought MH Tri was releasing in March as well.
At least it has a date now, and received a few more months of extra polish. It won't provide any immediate benefit to their fiscal reports at the end of March, but we should hear word of its performance by the end of June. Of course, we have VGC to determine if it is meeting expectations or not :)

The first four months of the year all have some great Wii games. Glad to see a release date for this. Sad to see I did lose my bet after all.
