Forums - Nintendo Discussion - 2 more third party wii games fail with sales?

It's clear games on wii sell over time. Every third party game that comes out we see the same threads. It's true they don't do amazing. But it's understandable after the disappointments of the first few wii years. It'll take some time for that to change. I want these games (more so SH), but I know that they won't sell well early and will drop in price quickly as many other games have done. Games that sell at release are games that have high perceived value. SH is a short game and I won't pay full price for it when I know the price will come down fairly quickly. All these games people complain about are niche games. Bring me a good fps with online and I'll buy that. MWR is selling well.

Wii 3rd party is for niche games with low budgets and they will sell at niche levels. This is the path nintendo is taking and it'll remain that way until we see bigger budgets and more mass appeal.

I'll stick to that view until MH3 and Epic Mickey do badly. More so MH3.

Well TCB deserved to fail...and while SH is good it's never been that big of series. I'm sure it'll be another case of a gamed that was proclaimed a failure at first and got some pretty good sales when we check again later. Same goes for TCB though.

No it didn't, how about you start playing games before making baseless statements.

Oh yes, Silent Hill is still very popular:

And it probably sold 1 million on the PS1... right?

Then, it's time to bash the Wii!

0.30m JAPAN ONLY (yea, I know Shattered Memories' numbers are America only), and Homecoming sold 340k on 360. Your post is really dumb.

Wait, is 340k a good number now? Then Madworld and The Conduit aren't a flop. See? Third party games can sell on the Wii.

And look at how you ignored the PS3 version of Homecoming.

I'm not ignoring, I'm just saying you should add ps3+360 to compare.

You will merge the two versions to make a comparison... Is it really rational? Your post, sir, is dumb.

Silent Hill bombed on the PS3 and x360. Bad numbers for Shattered Memories isn't the Wii's fault, the series is in decline.

Well technically if the Wii game slow burns, plus you can combine PS2 and PSP SH: SM sales since apparently you gotta combine all versions, then SH:SM still has a good shot at equal sales if not more, there's like 30k reserves I want to say for the PSP game about what the Wii version had, just wait for the other versions before we call this game a "flop"

Merging the numbers doesn't change that Homecoming bombed. People seem to think that pretending the PS3 and 360 are one platform magically makes all the problems go away.

Homecoming bombed so bad that Konami decided to cut their losses and actually refused to publish it in Japan.

final fantasy crystal chronicles the crystal bearers and silent hill shattered memories. they both sold less than 50k last month. i guess that means they arent doing good so far.

im guilty as charged i didnt get either game. but i am broke. :(

Well, not so bad for a PS2 remake of a PS game and a lame effort to bring an action FF to Wii...

and I think it's exactly the type of games the pirates like

Silly man, every single 3rd party game on the wii fails, except the mini gamez collectionz

Yep I just loved the mini games in No More Heros, RE4, RE:UC, MH3, Blazing Angels.....they all brought me such joy:)

Gaming make me feel GOOD!

We'll see what happens with Silent Hill. It was a fairly big series back in the days of SH2, but it's been going downhill since then. I do think it should eventually outperform Homecoming if it's good, it's hard to know how good it is though, I've heard both good and bad, and the reviews are mixed.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

www.xnagg.com/zombieasteroids/publish.htm

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

I think I need some more weeks of data before I pull the "bomb card". I want to see how both titles perform in Europe as well.

The most successful Silent Hill ever has only sold around 300k.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?
