Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will 2010 Be the Best Year for Wii, or will it fall apart?

Wii games are often only announced 6 months prior or so, so I'm not worried. So far the first four months already have about 10 games I want - Sky Crawlers, TvsC, NMH2, PHoF:GC, Fragile, Sakura Wars, Red Steel 2, Endless Ocean 2, The Calling, Monster Hunter Tri

Plus I still need to get A Boy and His Blob, FF:CC:CB and most importantly and deservably Silent Hill:SM.

Those alone can take me through 2010. Add NBA Jam and I'm sure there will be lots more great games announced as the year goes through.

And yes, SMG2, Zelda, M:oM are coming but I'm not personally interested in those.

But the recent arguments over whether 3rd parties are jumping ship or not has started to taint my anticipation greatly.  As much as I enjoyed SH: SM and FFCB, neither title cleared more than 50K during their first month... although on the flip side, it is possible that either of them could have legs and eventually become long-term successes, although that DOES remain to be seen.

FFCB hasn't made that first week, but it hasn't even been out a month, so you don't know that for certain about first month sales.

Why do you think 2010 would be bad, J? Games in 2010 started production 2 years ago. Its not like any current projects are being canned. For the 3rd party news, that'd affect 2012. So maybe 2012 will be a bad year. That said, 2012 is likely the year the next gen stuff comes out anyway, so in the end this "doom and gloom" news really doesn't mean much of anything.

Yes, mostly due to Nintendo's games.

I mean, SMG2 and Zelda in the same year virtually guarantees that...

With the known line up, 2010 will be just fine. It's 2011 that has me worried. With my current backlog, I'll be playing mostly 2010 games in 2011 anyways.

QFT.  Wii had the best first year of any gaming console, the best second year of any gaming console, and the best third year of any gaming console, but watch out, it is about to have the worst fourth year of any gaming console of all time.  It's as clear as day.

Currently looking forward to No More Heroes 2, Endless Ocean 2, and Red Steel 2 in the upcoming months. Definitely must buys.

Other titles on the radar are Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and Monster Hunter Tri... but funds are low, so we'll see.

It feels like I'm missing something... Oh yes... let's not forget about the actual Nintendo games on the Nintendo system.

Goodbye monies.

I still find it funny that people are predicting doom for this year since it hasn't started yet. All I'm saying is, let's try not to BE too hopeful OR cynical.

Two fads duct taped together will tend to do that. ;)

All I'm saying is .2% market loss in 3 months.  Exponential market loss, I'm telling you.

Everyone here pretty much summed it up. There already 12+ titles worthy of a purchase that were announced for 2010, and then the ones wwe have yet to know about, so it will be a great year.

Honestly, does everyone have ~$600 on tap for one Wii game a month?
