Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Bitterness in the Wii fandom?

I have a strange feeling.

Maybe it is just me whose perceptions changed, but I could swear, that nowadays the whole Nintendo community, and not just on this site, is a lot more supportive to Nintendo and hostile to 3rd parties than ever before, for example, a year ago.

In the past, there was cheerful optimism about all upcoming core third party games, and some blaming of Nintendo for not helping to get even more third party games.

Nowadays, everyone starts to sound like Malstrom: "The Industry Must Die!", "None of them could make any good enough games!",  "Everything on-rails sucks!"

Even on generic core news sites, like Eurogamer, a comment pointing out how retarded Ubisoft is, and their best franchises should have Wii versions, can get voted up.

Is it just me, or there is something in the winds?

They are just fed up with the comments from these companies.
I for one could give you volumes that agree with these sentiments that 3rd parties are the devil LOL

They have been bullshitin the entire gen, and things are just starting to reach a head again. Now it is to the point where they are being ignored.

This, 100%.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

I definitely agree, I have noticed this as well especially with the Malstrom shit... The focus on only the negative everyday is ridiculous

It is not just you. I get a lot of laughs from some ninty fans who post stuff like that. The bitterness...

They're like that on pretty much any gaming forum right now.

Agreed.

If certain high-profile third-party companies were visibly taking responsibility for their titles on the Wii, there would be a lot less cynicism towards them.

I think with me it is a bit of apathy. Ubisoft? There is little they contribute to the realm of quality imaginitive software in the overall videogame industry. There are also rumblings that a lot of their staff will soon be getting the pink slip.

Capcom - released (re-released) RE4 for the Wii and got good sales, and then in return give lite-version RE games, and complain when they don't sell. There's something wrong with their thought process here. That's like the makers of Avatar later complaining that a Disney style cell-animated prequel movie wasn't selling as well as the original.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Well Nintendo is being lazy. I think it's starting to become more of a greedy company and trust me sometimes I wonder if they learn from there mistakes. And why did they name the console "Wii" when it doesnt even cover the whole we part. There are more concentrated with core and casual. What about the hardcore? That is part of the Wii they are yet to do anything about. Sure Metroid but what else?
