Forums - Sony Discussion - What would PSP sales be like without the PSPGO?

I personally believe that sony screwed up big on this one. Prior to the 'leaks' and 'announcements' of the PSP:GO, the PSP sales were looking pretty good. However, all that changed when the PSP:GO came along. The GO! was a massive fail based on the price and it brought little more than the PSP-3000 already gave. So from the time of leaks until launch, people stopped buying the PSP but when the GO! failed so miserably, People stopped buying the PSP altogether. The PSP never recovered from the PSP Go! Launch.

What do you think? What would have worked out better for Sony? Would having left the PSP-3000 on its own be better or Would it ultimately have met with its end regardless of the Go!?

Almost exactly the same...

Zones : I still don't understand all the love for Blizzard, what was the last game they developed worth playing?

I don't think that Go hurt 3000 sales. But I have nothing to really prove that, beyond what I see in gaming shops around my area.

I could of swore the launch of the PSP GO increased the sales of the original PSP despite it's own lackluster sales

Probably for fears of it being phased out and needing to get it while you could.

I really don't see how the go affects the psp as a whole, if anything it helps the 3k.

I once went to a shop where a kid was asking his mum to buy him a GO but the clerk talked him out of it and sold him a 3k instead, either way Sony gets psp money so what's the problem?

Helped at first (raised awareness, PSP 3000 gained value in comparison, etc) will hurt in the long term as :

- partnerships with resellers will be less favorable than before
- Sony and Playstation brands will be less trusted by consumers
- developper's trust will also decrease

God i hate fanboys, almost as much as they hate facts

Where did all the trust go?
