IF the PS3 does somehow manage to squeeze 2nd, I don't think the overall experience for gamers would change very much. At this point, all the 3rd parties know they can't drop support of either system if they want to maximize profit and sales.
It would really only effect fanboys and maybe the ego of execs.
"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY." --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

No it doesn't matter which console is in 2nd or 3rd they've both secured 3rd party support until the end of the gen.
Don't bother arguing about exclusives looking better than multiplats could, its pretty much a fact. The 360 and PS3 have vastly different strengths when it comes to the hardware so to get an equivalent result on both you need to limit the overall vision for both. 360 games are capable of better textures, more shader effects and better AA for less cost. PS3 games have some extra horsepower for physics and more room for fine tuning and tweaking of the engine. When you consider the strengths of each then its clear that sometimes small sacrifices are made to keep games equivalent.
I would add that I think there are many multiplats that more than hold their own against the best both Sony and Microsoft have to offer.

Didn't I already say I first played Tekken 6 on the 360, and enjoyed it, as I was able to translate every combo I knew in Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection over to Tekken 6 on 360? Didn't I also say I don't care if Tekken, or hell, even Uncharted 2 (if it were possible) were multi-platform as LONG as it didn't hurt my experience in the end? In case you missed it, I'm saying it again, I don't care which games are multi-plat as LONG as they dont gimp the game unless the version being gimped is the version that can't support the full game. And btw, you "if you like the game, you'll play it" statement is total bull shit, I don't like Tekken 6, however, I don't believe in trading, or selling my games, so, I still play it and make the best of it, I only want future games to not suffer the same fate as Tekken 6. Next time take the time to read the thread to a full understanding, or keep comments like that to yourself. I have a 360, I don't hate it, I just don't prefer it. Hell, I played DJ hero (don't like it) last week. And played Gears of War 2 over a friends house (liked that one a lot) and Smash Brothers Brawl.. Although I cant get into that game because I'm so noob at it. I also played Some megaman game... I think it was ZX, or something. Lastly, Tekken is an exception to the 360 release thing, because it effects the PS3 owners directly, if it didn't have any effect what-so-ever, I wouldn't care if it was released on Wii-DS-360-Zeebo and Onlive. |
So your saying the 360 cant handle tekken 6? The PS3 version is the cleaner looking version of the two anyways....the only thing gimped about it is probably the horrendous loading times- no thanks to the slow BDROM, easily correctible by an install(as is with most ps360 games) so I dont see your point. the reason companies "gimp" games is in order to get sales. (Bayonetta is a good example of this in NA), if both 360 and ps3 versions were the same the ps3 would prolly see better sales- right? most ppl dont wanna play the game coz the 360 is the superior version..even though its a fantastic game.
Sure logic dictates if you can get a better game on the PS3 or 360 devs should push that.. but since we currently live in a very expensive HD gen- devs need sales to survive.
Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.

PS3 is selling fine with the help of the price drop and the Slim, tis doing fine imo.
To me, no. My only concern when i decide to invest in something like a console is will it be successful enough to get support. The PS3 is and that's enough for me as an owner of the console.
Right now while I'm happy with all the 1st party announcements for Wii I'm probably more concerned so many 3rd parties still seem skittish about the system and how to make good games that exploit its unique HW.
I know it's OT, but by extension I'm also wondering how those same developers, who all apparently have great games cooking for Natal and the Wand, are going to deliver on the HD platform after apparently failing to get motion controls terribly well on the Wii?
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I don't think he was one about how it handled or played but the release dates.
Arcade version of Tekken 6 came out in in arcades in Japan in 2007, based on PS3 arcade system. The game was released on PS3 and 360 2 entire years later. What took so long? The only thing that changed between the release dates is that 360 was added as a platform and they wanted simaltaneous release. So basically, PS3 owners had to wait an entire year for it.
Hmm, pie.

In my opinion, Uncharted 2 wins over Assassin's Creed 2 for the following reasons: - The character models themselves. The people and faces in Uncharted 2 look significantly more real and natural to me than those in Assassin's Creed 2. A lot of the people in AC2 just looked a bit weird to me, whereas the characters in Uncharted 2 looked great. - Controls: the controls in Uncharted 2 feel better to me. The controls in AC2 were ok, but I had a lot of problems with them that I didn't have in U2. Given the similarility between the actions, I think it's a fair comparison. A lot of people had similar problems with AC2 controls. - Bugs: AC2 froze on me a few times, and I know I'm not the only one. In one of the assassination missions, I killed the target, and the game wouldn't recognize that he was dead. I stood there, staring at a dead body with a blue arrow over it. In one sequence (the Altair dream), my character was kissing another character that wasn't even there. Then he went to sleep in a pile of hay alone, and then nothing happened. The game wouldn't progress. I aborted the memory and played it over again, and this time there was a girl where there was once empty space. - Challenge: Assassin's Creed 2 is far too easy. I can't think of a single time that I actually died in combat. In fact, the only times I died was when I was trying to climb a building and instead - due to the clunky controls, again - I did a 180 degree turn/leap away from a building. Other than that, I moved through the game virtually untouched. I prefer more of a challenge. - Uncharted 2 was, for me, simply more fun to play. From the stealth mechanics to the cover system, it just had gameplay elements that I really enjoyed. - I got the impression that Ubisoft rushed the game out. This is reinforced by the fact that they had to cut 2 sequences out (12&13) just to finish the game on time. Uncharted 2, on the other hand, felt impreccably polished in every way. Personally, I don't think either game makes the other look like a joke, I was simply quoting your post. I'm not a PS3 fanboy by any means, but I really appreciate the technical merits behind Uncharted 2. Assasin's Creed 2 is good, but not in the same league. |
Well, that was my point all along.
And your reasons for why Uncharted 2 beats Assassin's Creed II are very reasonable.
well I do believe next call of duty won't break records.....

I thought it was delayed bcoz they wanted to port bloodline rebellion to the home consoles as opposed to original..There was a 10 month delay between the two.. which makes sense.. why would they want to release the home version at the same time as the arcade version..
