Yeah, even when it first came out, outside of the cutscenes the graphics were ugly.

I mean, it was 3D sure... but we went from really well drawn and defined Sprites and hand painted monsters to ugly 3D Block figures.

3D was a spectacle sure... but if you weren't blown away by OMG 3-D it was a much uglier game.

FFVI and FFVII are neck and neck actually. It's even trickier when you add other first time games to the mix. Some like FFX more, some like FFXII more. Final Fantasy games are expected to be up to par with the graphics of the time. After that its about gameplay. FFXIII being exclusive to the Wii would be double wammy against it. One because it wouldn't have the top notch graphics and FMVs. Two because it would either have motion control junk where it doesn't belong or it _wouldn't_ thus defeating the purpose of having it on the Wii in the first place.

It depends on how you want to define "neck and neck".   If you had a straight poll.   FF7 would slaughter any other game.

Though FF6 ususally places ahead in "critics" choices and "best game of all time lists."

FF4 often does too and sometimes tops both.

Higher userbase doesn't always equate to higher sales. Perhaps that would be the case if FF13 was announced as a wii game from the start but even then, I doubt it because FFXIII sold pretty similar to its previous iterations on ps3s meager userbase alone.

Larger userbases do affect upper limits of sales... Wii's best selling game in Japan is at 3.6m, PS3's is at 1.8m.

I'd say a Wii FFXIII would've matched FFX (and exceeded FFXIII PS3) for sales in Japan.  In the west is where it would tumble though, as I think a lot of FF's expanded western audience are more PlayStation faithful, plus big Japanese 360 games tend to do well regardless.

In Japan, sales for this would be ENORMOUS. But in the west, it would have higher saled for the HD platforms.

I want to lean towards Wii for the hell of it though.
