Why HD versus Wii?

HD is a single platform?

For the development purposes, along with PC; no, but damn close. Simultaneous development saves cost and allows for a much, much bigger potential customer group. Win-win situation. Besides, people like to think Wii vs HD for all other purposes (NSMWii will outsell MW2 on both HD consoles combined, will sell more hardware than HD consoles combined etc).

HD.

Graphics are VERY key in FF games.

yeah... FFVII... I see what you mean....

????

the first 3D rpg?

FF7 wasnt 3D.

@OP

I would say the same. Better sales on Wii for Japan and better sales on HD consoles for the rest of the world.

What was it, then?

Also, that is wrong either way. Wild ARMS came prior to VII and it was 3D.

Fake 3D perspective view.

The characters were 3D polygon models but all the backgrounds were drawn and not rendered so it was kind of a hybrid (it looked like shit, even back then but the cutscenes were very good).

you forgot to put about the battles being in mostly 3d as well (only the background, like the sky or some trees were in 2D)

FF VII had very good graphics for the time it was made as well. I still love the game to this day

it's the future of handheld

PS VITA = LIFE

Hmm, I disagree that it had good graphics (I do love the game so I'm not trying to bash it), FFVIII and not to mention the incredibly beautiful FFIX showed how gorgeous games on Playstation could be. I know they arrived quite a bit later in the console's life cycle but still.

It depends when you played on FF VII, was it when it was first released, i still rmember watching all the video's and being impressed, when I fianlly got my ps1 and FF VII I was one very happy person, FF VIII did outdo it tho

One thing to remember is I did jump from having a c64 to PS1, so maybe that influenced my opinion loads

I remember seeing FFVII for the first time a few weeks after release when my cousin was playing it. The FMV was great but I thought the visuals sucked otherwise... I was still taken in by the gameplay and story though and I could sit for hours watching him play it! What a life!

The differences of a Wii and a PS3/X360 is not only in the HD visuals. So a FFXIII on Wii would not be the same game. Anyways to answer to ur question I say more or less the same. Though if it was multiplat and people could actually see the difference, I say HD>>>>>Wii (thats 5 times more)

Can't really say. It's pretty obvious FF XIII Wii would of sold more in Japan.

However for the west.... it depends how big of a western hit it is... on the 360... I'd say.

HD no doubt.

its like 358/2 VS birth by sleep

even with half the userbase psp double DS sales.

Final Fantasy is a series that depends on spectacles to sell. 1080P pre rendered footage is why many will be buying FFXIII. I have to vote HD for this very reason.

Now if we were talking about old Final Fantasy, which focuses more on gameplay instead of cinematic and narrative, a Wii version would most likely sell well.

Poor example. Birth by sleep was in the same style of the original games, the DS game was more of a mission based spin-off

Depends when it was announced. If it was announced as a Wii exclusive from the start (againts the current situation for HD) then I honestly would have to say it'd be about the same.

If it was announed as a Wii game now then clearly HD.
